On his personal page, the striker born in 1997 said: "Thank you everyone for sending messages of encouragement" after receiving wishes for a quick recovery from Vietnamese fans.
Xuan Son suffered a very serious injury in the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final against Thailand. The Brazilian striker broke two bones in his right leg (tibia and fibula). After a successful surgery, he entered the recovery process with a scientific and strict roadmap.
If he continues to maintain his current recovery progress, Xuan Son can return to the field in early September. This is extremely good news for Nam Dinh Club and the Vietnam national team. It is predicted that Xuan Son can be in time to play in the match against Nepal in the third round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers in October 2025 and return in the early stages of the 2025/26 V-League.

Although he has only played in the 2024 AFF Cup, Xuan Son has quickly become an extremely important factor for the Vietnamese team. Last April, Xuan Son signed a new contract with Nam Dinh Club until 2031. This shows that the club has great confidence in this striker when they are willing to give him a long-term contract even though he is being treated for a serious injury.
