A representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that today, January 26, the airport will serve 984 flights. Of which, there are 491 departure flights (337 domestic departure flights, 154 international departure flights), 493 arrival flights (340 domestic arrival flights, 153 international arrival flights).
The total number of passengers expected to be served is 146,678. Of these, 94,622 are departing passengers (66,149 domestic departing passengers, 28,473 international departing passengers); 52,056 are arriving passengers (24,140 domestic arriving passengers, 27,916 international arriving passengers).
Thus, the number of passengers passing through Tan Son Nhat airport on the peak day of the 27th of Tet continued to increase compared to yesterday, the 26th of Tet (with about 145,000 passengers).
Ms. Le Thi Cam Van (40 years old, living in Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City) said that although the aviation industry has organized and managed flights effectively, and arranged reasonable take-off/landing times, Tan Son Nhat airport is not overloaded. However, queuing to check in still takes a lot of time: "Waiting and queuing for an hour still only moves a little bit, I guess it will take nearly 3 hours for my turn" - Ms. Van shared.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh (37 years old, living in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City) also complained that the baggage check-in process at the airport was very slow: "Previous times, my family and I only took about 10-20 minutes to check in our baggage, but today the airport was very crowded so the check-in process was not smooth, we had to wait for a long time" - Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh said.
Continuously in the past few days - the peak time before Tet, the number of passengers arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport is very large. Especially during the early morning rush hour 3-5am (2 hours before the flight), passengers gathered at the domestic terminal crowded, with an estimated 12,000 passengers expected to depart.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport has requested ground service units to maintain additional staffing at the conveyor belt area at the domestic terminal during peak hours to promptly resolve and avoid congestion of luggage on the conveyor belt.
At the same time, the airport has also increased the number of volunteers working from 5am to 11pm to support people.
In addition, Tan Son Nhat airport has also requested airline representatives to be present at the counter/gate to handle and promptly inform passengers of flight delays and cancellations, to avoid passengers causing frustration, causing disturbances and disrupting security and order at the terminal, affecting operations at the port.
Previously, on January 25, Tan Son Nhat airport served more than 145,000 arriving and departing passengers, of which the number of passengers returning home for Tet was still very high.
Specifically, there are 927 flights departing and arriving through this airport, of which 796 are passenger flights. The number of passengers departing from the domestic terminal is more than 62,000, while the number of passengers arriving in Ho Chi Minh City is only more than 26,000.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that during the peak period of Lunar New Year 2025 (from December 15 to January 15, At Ty year, or from January 14 to February 12), the total number of flights is expected to reach 26,033, with an average daily output of more than 800 flights, of which the peak day is expected to have more than 970 flights. The total number of passengers expected during this peak period is 4,028,003, of which international passengers account for 1,513,644 and domestic passengers account for 2,514,359.
