Perhaps I'm not the only one who has realized valuable lessons after hearing my father speak.
The story of an account named Xiao Hua is receiving a lot of attention from netizens on the Baidu platform (China).
The other day, my colleagues and I were casually talking about our parents' pensions. When I revealed that my father-in-law's pension was 10,000 RMB per month (about 35 million VND), everyone froze in disbelief. "Are you kidding? Even our department head only gets half that amount when he retires. How can your father-in-law get so much?"
I know my father-in-law's pension is significantly higher than average. But that's not impossible; it's the result of his hard work over the years.
My father-in-law is an extremely ambitious person. My mother told me that when he was young, he was just an ordinary technician in a factory. Later, thanks to his abilities and hard work, he gradually rose to a leadership position, becoming a director. But he didn't neglect his work; on the contrary, he became even more dedicated, often not getting home until 9 or 10 pm.

My mother also mentioned that my father was known for being very good to his subordinates. Even after I got married, he often told my husband and me about work: "People are the foundation of a company. Without the efforts of each individual, the company cannot grow." Therefore, he tried every way to provide the best possible benefits for his employees, even if it meant sacrificing some of his own profits.
Someone once told my father that doing so would be a disadvantage. But he replied, "As long as the employees feel comfortable, they can focus on their work, and the company will grow even more. As a leader, I should see it as a benefit, not a disadvantage."
As the company grew, my father received a substantial pension. However, while still working, he proactively contributed to voluntary social insurance. He often told us, "Save more when you're young, so you'll have insurance when you're old." Not long ago, he even calculated to my wife and me that his pension and gifts for the two months of the Gregorian and Lunar New Year holidays would amount to approximately 29,000 RMB (over 100 million VND).
Even though he's retired and become a grandfather, my father continues to work. Currently, he serves as an advisor to the company, giving people advice on business operations. But this job doesn't always require him to be in the office, so in his free time, he takes his motorbike to the end of the street and works as a motorbike taxi driver.
My father's job used to intrigue me greatly. After all, at this age, he should be enjoying his retirement with his children and grandchildren, and shouldn't need to work anymore.
Hearing my question, he said, "Don't let your brain and body rust; work whenever you can. When I was a consultant, I used my brain more, but when I was a motorbike taxi driver, I had time to observe life outside after many years of being busy."
"My father's private driver used to tell me that the streets outside were very lively, especially during the end of the year. Just driving around was enough to know how the economy had been over the past year, how people treated each other, and so on... But back then, my father didn't have time to know about that."
That wasn't all of my father's reasons. He added, "And most importantly, I want my children and grandchildren to understand the value of hard work. As you can see, in front of the kids, I've never talked about being a director or money. I just want to be a normal grandfather in their eyes."
After hearing my father-in-law's words, I was stunned by his sharp and insightful thinking, his tireless efforts, and his constant consideration for future generations.

To be honest, I'm a little envious of my father-in-law. With his high pension, he doesn't have to worry about his life and can continue to develop his abilities while freely exploring new things. It's a life everyone dreams of! But I also understand that it's the result of decades of hard work.
Someone might say, "Who do you think you are to dream of such a life?" That's true! Before achieving that life, there were days of constant pressure, highly competitive work, and no easy path to advancement. However, I believe that luck always smiles upon those who are prepared. My father-in-law never imagined he would become a director, but he always maintained a spirit of learning and hard work. Ultimately, he achieved what he has today.
But if you think about it carefully, instead of envying other people's sky-high salaries or pensions, consider the value you create for the business and society. Contribution will be rewarded – this saying is relevant at all times. My father-in-law is a prime example.
Therefore, I have to work even harder. Perhaps I can't achieve the same success as him, but I believe I will have a better life, and my children can look at the hard work of their grandparents and parents and strive harder in their studies and careers.
