According to Stadium Astro (Malaysia), FIFA's Appeal Committee will conduct a hearing today (October 31) in Miami, USA, regarding the case of falsifying documents of 7 Malaysian naturalized players. The final verdict is expected to be announced a few hours after the hearing ends.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has confirmed that it is prepared for all scenarios, including taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if the appeal result is unfavorable. "We believe in the transparency and fairness of the process, but if necessary, FAM will continue to pursue the case to protect the interests of Malaysian football," said a FAM representative.
Meanwhile, speaking in Kuala Lumpur on the afternoon of October 30, the Secretary General of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) - Mr. Seri Windsor Paul John, emphasized that the time factor is becoming urgent. He said: "We need to have the final results before March 31, 2026, because right after the last match of the Asian Cup qualifiers, the AFC must prepare for the draw. To ensure progress, we need to know exactly which team in Malaysia's group is recognized as having the right to continue."
This means FIFA must make a decision today so as not to affect the AFC's match schedule and preparations. In case the decision is delayed, it is possible that the entire situation of Malaysia's group in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers could be disrupted.
