Man Utd hosted Fulham at Old Trafford in the FA Cup quarter-finals on the evening of March 19. The home team was rated higher than their opponent but could not deploy a coherent game in the first 45 minutes of play. The most notable opportunity for the "Red Devils" in the first half was Sabitzer's powerful shot in the 40th minute but could not beat Fulham goalkeeper Leno.
The game only really changed when the two teams entered the second half. Fulham was the more proactive team in the first minutes of this half. The away team players continuously created trouble in the home team's penalty area and scored the opening goal in the 50th minute after Mitrovic's close-range shot.
Trailing first, coach Erik Ten Hag was forced to put Antony on the field to replace McTominay with the goal of improving the attack to find an equalizer.
The turning point of the match came in the 70th minute, when Willian was sent off after using his hand to block Sancho's shot in the penalty area. Not only that, the away team was also at a disadvantage when Mitrovic and coach Marco Silva were also sent off just a few minutes later for reacting.
The referee also awarded Man Utd a penalty after a foul and on the 11m mark, Bruno Fernandes brought the equalizer for the "Red Devils" in the 76th minute. The advantage of 2 more players made the home team's game easier in the remaining minutes of the match.
Less than 2 minutes later, Sabitzer skillfully backheeled a pass from Luke Shaw, raising the score to 2-1 for the Old Trafford team. In the 6th minute of injury time, Bruno Fernandes once again shined with a powerful shot, sealing an incredible 3-1 comeback victory for Man Utd.
