Every year, the Party Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Command organize to thoroughly grasp the "Call for patriotic emulation" of beloved Uncle Ho in conjunction with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; concretizing it through movements and models: "Excellent training, strict discipline, high combat readiness"; "One good deed for the people every day"; "Building a model, typical and responsible militia force"; "The Army's logistics sector follows Uncle Ho's teachings"... Thereby creating a strong driving force, making positive and comprehensive changes in all areas of work.

The city's armed forces have proactively advised, proposed and implemented many creative projects such as: Building commune-ward military cells; organizing, training, ensuring regimes and policies for militia and self-defense forces; using regular militia forces to participate in handling disturbances, demonstrations and riots. These projects have contributed to strengthening national defense, people's security and maintaining political stability in the area.

In reality, emulation in the city's armed forces is not only a slogan but has become a concrete action with a series of typical models: "5 good Party cells, 5 good Party members"; "Three best units"; "Typical exemplary militia"; "Pink Sunday"; "Supporting children to school"; "Women's self-defense ineducation and hospitals"... Many initiatives and technical improvements that have won awards at the military region and army levels have been applied such as: Compact target detection equipment using cameras, night shooting inspection equipment using laser beams... contributing to improving the quality of training and combat readiness of units.

In building the national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, the city's armed forces always play a central role; promoting emulation to firmly consolidate the defense and security potential in the area with many projects being widely deployed. Typically, the organization of standing companies and platoons in key areas, ready to coordinate with the police and border guards to handle sudden and unexpected situations is a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of emulation movements close to practical requirements. Especially, in major political events such as: The 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification; activities serving high-level conferences, party congresses at all levels... The city's armed forces always clearly demonstrate their pioneering role. 100% of officers and soldiers are on active duty, absolutely protecting the safety of key targets, while coordinating well in propaganda activities, cultural and artistic exchanges, serving the people and international guests.

The patriotic emulation movement of the city's armed forces has also been materialized through programs in coordination with organizations, unions, veterans' associations, and the Fatherland Front in implementing the Army's rear policy, mobilizing housing construction, supporting livelihoods, awarding scholarships to children of policy families, ethnic minorities, and religious groups, giving gifts to people with revolutionary contributions, and mobilizing tens of thousands of working days to help people build roads, repair houses, and evacuate people from dangerous areas when there are natural disasters and epidemics. In recent years, the city's armed forces have built nearly 500 gratitude houses and comrade houses with a total cost of nearly 40 billion VND; provided free medical examinations and medicine to more than 15,800 people in difficult circumstances... deeply demonstrating the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and the spirit of emulation to serve the people.

In the field of defense diplomacy, the city's armed forces organized the signing of agreements with many units of the Royal Cambodian Army and the Cuban armed forces; presented equipment, medicine, medical supplies, and nearly 210,000 USD in funding, contributing to strengthening cooperation, friendship, and protecting regional peace...

With its outstanding achievements, in 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President for the third time. This is a noble award, a testament to the tireless efforts of all cadres and soldiers in the patriotic emulation movement following the call of beloved Uncle Ho. In 2025, the city's armed forces were selected by the Ministry of National Defense to organize the launching ceremony of the "Lightning Speed ​​- Determined Victory" peak emulation campaign and to conduct training. This important event left a deep impression on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, affirming the trust of the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 7 in the Party Committee, Command and the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces.

To concretize the targets of the peak emulation periods and the Victory Emulation Movement, the city's armed forces are striving continuously and persistently every day and every hour with the determination to excellently complete all tasks; continue to promote the Victory Emulation Movement in conjunction with major campaigns of the Party, the Army and the locality. Improve the quality of training and combat readiness; actively transform digitally in management and operation. Promote democracy, internal solidarity, care for the material and spiritual life of soldiers. Build the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period "exemplary, intelligent, disciplined, responsible, ready to sacrifice for the Fatherland and the people".

77 years have passed, but the "Call for Patriotic Emulation" of beloved Uncle Ho still retains its appeal, truly a driving force urging the Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces to unite and continue writing the heroic patriotic emulation poem with concrete, creative, humane actions, closely connected with the people, just as President Ho Chi Minh taught: "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation".
