West Ham United produced a superb performance to beat Man Utd at Old Trafford, ending the Manchester club's 16-match winless streak away from home in the Premier League.
Following their midweek UEFA Europa League semi-final success, manager Ruben Amorim made six changes to the team that played against West Ham. Mason Mount started following his brace against Athletic Bilbao, alongside Amad Diallo, who was making his first start since early February. The Ivorian was the dangerous attacker as usual, linking well with Bruno Fernandes but the Portuguese midfielder fired wide before forcing a more dangerous save from Alphonse Areola.

It took the Hammers 15 minutes to get into the game, but once they did, United's defence quickly showed signs of fraying. First, James Ward-Prowse curled a free-kick into the box that Max Kilman headed over the bar. After the first caution, West Ham took the lead in the 26th minute.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka passed the ball to Mohammed Kudus unmarked on the left, then the Ghanaian player set up Tomas Soucek to easily put the ball into the net. The goal stunned the Man Utd players and sapped all fighting spirit, the home players trudged back to the tunnel for a break after a frustrating 45 minutes.
After the second half, West Ham continued to control the game and quickly came close to doubling their lead after Kudus's back pass was headed straight by Ward-Prowse to goalkeeper Altay Bayındır. Amorim had something to worry about as they had to make two substitutions in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, with Leny Yoro forced off with a leg injury, while Luke Shaw was also forced off as Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof were brought on.
The personnel changes did not help Man Utd's defense play better, this season the Old Trafford team conceded twice as many goals in the second half as in the first and this match was no exception. Manuel Ugarte lost the ball in his own half, allowing the visitors to attack quickly and Wan-Bissaka passed the ball to the far post for Jarrod Bowen to score to make it 2-0 in the 57th minute.

Amorim's players finally woke up after going two goals down, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund both having chances to score for the home side, but poor finishing cost the Red Devils. The Dane was then presented with a good chance by Amad, but his close-range effort was saved by Areola.
In the end, Graham Potter's men made the most of the remaining minutes without much trouble, claiming their first win in nine games and moving above Man Utd in the table. The Red Devils dropped to 16th place as their winless run extended to seven games, a club-worst record.
