This morning (October 15), the Military Industry-Telecoms Group ( Viettel ) officially announced the launch of the 5G network, 6 months after receiving a license to use the 2,600 MHz frequency.
At the time of launch, Viettel's 5G network had more than 6,500 BTS stations, covering 100% of the capitals of 63 provinces/cities, industrial parks, tourist areas, seaports, airports, hospitals and universities.
Viettel's 5G network speed can reach from 700Mbps-1Gb, 10 times faster than 4G and low latency of almost 0.
Viettel also announced 11 prepaid packages and 8 postpaid packages for individual customers. In addition, each customer will have their own digital space, all 5G packages are provided with free Cloud storage and TV360 4K TV viewing service by Viettel.

Customers who own 5G-enabled phones can use the service immediately without having to change SIMs. To buy Viettel 5G packages, in addition to current channels, Viettel has launched a shopping portal at hub.vietteltelecom.vn to help customers easily choose suitable packages according to their own personal needs.
For enterprise customers, Viettel announced more than 130 user cases which are applications and solutions for organizations in the fields of Industrial Production, Smart City, Transportation and Logistics, Agriculture , Healthcare, Education, Energy. These solutions are tailored to each individual need, integrating cloud, AI, IoT technologies on the 5G platform with the ability to connect at extremely high density.
According to Mr. Cao Anh Son, General Director of Viettel Telecom, the deployment of 5G will aim at "each citizen owning a super-fast, super-connected smartphone", applying technology to solve major social problems, contributing to building a digital society and a smart era in Vietnam.
With Viettel launching 5G service, Vietnam becomes the country to officially commercialize 5G.

After Viettel, many other networks are also accelerating the speed of 5G network coverage. A representative of VinaPhone said that after being officially licensed, VNPT Group has urgently deployed the installation of VinaPhone 5G infrastructure and transmission stations nationwide. Currently, many provinces and cities across the country have VinaPhone 5G waves.
According to the plan, by the end of 2024, VNPT will complete the installation of over 3,000 VinaPhone 5G transmission stations to ensure strong, stable and continuous coverage, especially in urban areas and major economic centers nationwide, moving towards early nationwide 5G coverage.
From October 13, 2024 to November 15, 2024, VinaPhone customers who already have 5G phones will be able to participate in the free super-fast 5G experience program when operating in areas with 5G waves.
5G network is considered essential digital infrastructure. Previously, on October 9, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1132/QD-TTg approving the Digital Infrastructure Strategy until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
The strategy aims to have 5G mobile services in 100% of provinces, cities and high-tech zones by 2025. By 2030, 5G mobile networks will cover 99% of the population.
