'Huge' tuition fees at Vietnam Aviation Academy, some majors cost up to 80,000 USD/year

TPO - Vietnam Aviation Academy announced the tuition fees for 2025-2026 for all training majors ranging from 15.5 - 18.5 million VND/semester. However, for the aviation management and operation major with integrated pilot training, the tuition fee can be up to 80,000 USD/year.

On June 5, Vietnam Aviation Academy announced its plan for regular university enrollment in 2025 with 4,600 targets for 38 majors/specializations in the fields of civil aviation, economics and society, along with tuition information.

Accordingly, the 2025-2026 tuition fees for training majors at Vietnam Aviation Academy range from 15.5 - 18.5 million VND/semester.

However, for the major of flight management and operations integrated with pilot training, tuition fees can be up to 80,000 USD/year.

According to the school, students majoring in flight management and operations will pay 18.5 million VND/semester for the university program at the school. Then, to qualify to become a commercial pilot, students need to undergo intensive training courses with a total estimated cost of 2.45 - 2.95 billion VND.

Specifically, the training stages in the pilot training program include: PPL (private pilot license, 4 months, 60 flight hours): about 570 million VND; ATP (airline transport pilot theory, 6 months): about 160 million VND;

MCC & Jet FAM (flight crew coordination and jet familiarization, 1 month): about 215 million VND; CPL & IR-ME (commercial pilot license and multi-engine instrument flight, 140 flight hours): training abroad from 6 - 12 months, cost ranges from 60,000 - 80,000 USD (equivalent to 1.5 - 2 billion VND).

This year, Vietnam Aviation Academy uses 5 admission methods, including:

Method 1: Admission based on 2025 high school graduation exam scores

Method 2: Admission based on the results of the entire 12th grade transcript

Method 3: Admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi National University in 2025

Method 4: Admission by SAT/ACT/IB international admission certificate

Method 5: direct admission according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Each admission method has its own admission score, calculated according to the maximum score scale of that method.

Admission majors of Vietnam Aviation Academy

The Academy applies the rules for converting equivalent admission scores between groups and admission methods according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Candidates are only admitted to the highest choice in the list of registered choices. Choices in the same field are equal (regardless of high/low choice).

If a candidate is admitted by many different methods in the highest admission wish, the method that the candidate is admitted by will be prioritized in order from high to low: high school exam score, transcript, Ho Chi Minh City National University capacity assessment, Hanoi National University capacity assessment, SAT, ACT, IB.

In case the candidates have the same admission score at the end of the list, priority will be given to the candidates with higher wishes.
