Vietnam's mobile network in top 3 globally in terms of speed

(QNgTV)- Viettel is among the three fastest mobile networks in the world, while VinaPhone ranks second in 5G speed, according to the results of the Speedtest Awards for the best performing network operators in the first half of 2025 just announced by Ookla.

Specifically, in the most important category of Fastest Mobile Network, Viettel scored 82.56 points, ranking third globally. The two leading networks were e& of the UAE (88.05 points) and Ooredoo in Qatar (87.05 points). The Vietnamese network ranked above Singtel of Singapore (82.53 points). In the category of Fastest 5G Mobile Network, VinaPhone ranked second with 78.11 points.

Meanwhile, the UAE’s e& remains the top carrier with a score of 81.94. Ookla did not specify the formula, but said the speed score is based on a combination of weights including download speed (70%) and upload speed (20%) and network latency (10%), on a 100-point scale. Carriers that qualify must have at least 3% of the region’s sample size.

Ookla is the world leader in Internet speed testing, with its Speedtest tool used by hundreds of millions of people. Many countries and organizations, including Vietnam, use Ookla results as a reliable measure of network performance.
