Bringing many dishes to the park, how does the Pho Festival ensure food safety?

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí30/07/2024

At the press conference to inform about the program "Vietnam Pho Festival 2024", which just took place at both ends of the bridge, Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Seoul (Korea), the representative of the organizing committee shared that this is the seventh year of organizing the Pho festival and the second time the festival has taken place abroad.

One of the biggest goals of this activity is to introduce Vietnamese culinary culture to Korean and other international friends, through pho and many other dishes. Through culinary exchanges, the organizers hope to connect culture, trade, tourism, etc. between the two countries of Vietnam and Korea.

During the festival (October 5-6), many famous pho brands from Vietnam and Seoul will be brought to serve diners at Yeouido Park (Seoul, Korea). It is expected that there will be about 80 pho stalls and many other dishes (such as banh xeo, goi cuon, cha gio...) in this festival.

Responding to reporters' questions about how the festival will ensure food safety when serving many dishes in an open park space, the Organizing Committee said that the festival is held with the permission of Korean authorities, especially the Seoul City government. Food safety and hygiene issues are strictly followed by the festival in accordance with Korean regulations.

In addition, dishes such as pho will be prepared in advance to serve tourists and not cooked on site.

Previously in April, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association and Department of Tourism also held a large-scale culinary festival, the Vietnamese Bread Festival.

To ensure food hygiene and safety, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety has participated in the organizing committee, regularly checking booths, closely monitoring each raw material and controlling even the smallest steps such as masks, gloves and drinking water.

Regarding the environment, the festival will limit the use of plastic bags. Paper bags will be prepared by the organizers and distributed to the booths.

Ms. Pham Khanh Phong Lan, Director of the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, called on each citizen to be aware of protecting themselves, choosing food with clear origins and knowing how to process and preserve it properly.

Mr. Vu Ho, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea, commented that in the context of the current excellent development of Vietnam - Korea relations, especially after the official visit to Korea by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh from June 31 to July 3, 2024, the organization of Vietnam Pho Festival 2024 not only helps Korean people understand more about Vietnamese cultural values through pho but also contributes to further promoting economic cooperation, trade, and people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
