After nearly 3 years of being granted a growing area code for 126.4 hectares of passion fruit, members of the Hung Thom Gia Lai Agricultural and Service Cooperative as well as associated households have produced passion fruit more effectively. Ms. Do Thi My Thom - Director of the Cooperative - said: To be granted a growing area code for export, members and people all cultivate passion fruit according to GlobalGAP standards. Accordingly, priority is given to the use of organic fertilizers and biological products to care for and prevent pests and diseases for crops. Thanks to that, passion fruit trees are less susceptible to pests and diseases, with a yield of 50-70 tons of fruit/ha, of which 75% of products meet export standards to China and European countries. Passion fruit products sold to the Chinese market are 2-3 thousand VND/kg higher than the market, and sold to European countries are 10-15 thousand VND/kg higher than the market. After deducting costs, people have a profit of 200 million VND/ha/crop.
Similarly, more than 20 households in Hra commune were also excited to be granted a growing area code for more than 20 hectares of pepper. Ms. Le Thi Bau - Head of the Clean Pepper Production Team in Hra commune - informed: Thanks to applying the care process according to organic standards, 1 hectare of pepper of her family achieved a yield of 3 tons. Moreover, after being granted a growing area code, the output of pepper products is very favorable.
Mr. Huynh Van Tuan - Head of the Clean Coffee Production Group in Hra Commune informed: The group has more than 40 hectares of coffee belonging to the people who have just been granted a growing area code. "Although the soil is not as good as other production areas, with good investment and care, the coffee productivity of the households in the group still reaches nearly 4 tons of beans/ha. Hopefully, after being granted a growing area code, the people's coffee products will be sold at a higher price than the market price" - Mr. Tuan said.

Taking us on a tour of his 3.4-hectare coffee garden, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son (De Chuk village, Kon Thup commune) excitedly said: This area was just granted a growing area code more than a month ago. Previously, he cultivated in the traditional way, using chemical fertilizers to fertilize the coffee and using herbicides to clean the garden. However, he later switched to growing coffee according to VietGAP standards. Although the investment cost for farming according to VietGAP standards is higher, the product output is very favorable.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Le Loi - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Mang Yang district - said: The whole district has more than 24,700 hectares of crops, mainly coffee, pepper, cassava, rice, fruit trees, medicinal plants and vegetables of all kinds.
