Valve, the company responsible for the giant game distribution platform Steam, has just surprised the global gaming community by announcing a series of new hardware products. Notably, the more than 6-minute video introducing these products has attracted more than 2.2 million views in less than a day, a rare phenomenon for promotional videos.

Specifically, the video titled "Steam Hardware Announcement" with a duration of 6 minutes and 17 seconds (released on Valve's official YouTube channel) has reached more than 2.2 million views and 355,000 likes within just 14 hours of being posted.

With a professional, humorous and witty approach to content, the video cleverly combines technology demonstration and entertainment. Instead of just a dry trailer, Valve has created an engaging viewing experience, making the audience not hesitate to spend more than 6 minutes watching.

The fact that over 2 million people were willing to sit through and then sing praises for a 6-minute commercial is a testament to the huge fan base and loyal following Valve has built over the years.

The video above showcases the company's three newest hardware products: the Steam Machine, Steam Controller, and Steam Frame. The products showcased in the video show Valve's ambition to expand the PC gaming ecosystem beyond the popular Steam Deck .

First up is the Steam Controller: a gaming controller that inherits the Steam Deck 's signature features , including a trackpad, gyroscope, and rear buttons. The highlight is the magnetic analog stick for improved responsiveness and durability. The controller comes with an accessory called "The Puck" - a magnetic charger and wireless adapter that reduces latency.

Next up is the “Steam Machine” – a powerful, compact gaming PC optimized for large screens. It’s six times more powerful than the Steam Deck, uses a semi-custom GPU from AMD, and allows for 4K gaming at 60 frames per second with FSR technology. The Steam Machine runs on a custom-designed operating system called Steam OS, and can still install and use any PC software.

Finally, there’s the Steam Frame, a virtual reality headset that allows players to stream all Steam games, even non-VR games. It comes with a fully-featured controller, including capacitive sensors for finger tracking. Notably, the Steam Frame can also be installed and played independently without a PC.

Many people also wondered about the absence of Steam Deck 2 in this hardware announcement. In addition, the lack of any new game titles announced with the announcement is also a surprise, especially since Valve released Half-Life: Alyx in 2020 as a flagship product to promote the Valve Index virtual reality headset .

Speaking to IGN, Valve software engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais confirmed that Valve is planning to release an improved version of Steam Deck in the future. However, the company is waiting for the technology to develop enough to make a big enough leap in performance while also ensuring reasonable battery life.

According to an announcement from Valve, all three products will officially hit shelves in early 2026.
