The commemorative model is the all-electric version – the G580 with EQ technology – with a powerful Obsidian Black Metallic paint job. Born for military purposes, the G-Class – or Geländewagen – was first commercialized in 1979.
From a dedicated off-road vehicle, the G-Class has grown to become an icon in the world of luxury SUVs, with a growing fan base. Throughout its development, many special editions have been launched, including the "Stronger Than the 1980s" model - the 500,000th vehicle produced in 2023.

Responding to the growing demand for personalization, Mercedes-Benz has been implementing the Manufaktur program for the G-Class since 2019. According to the German automaker, more than 90% of customers now choose at least one Manufaktur option when purchasing a car, with an average of around three personalization options per car. From 2024, customers will be able to choose from more than 20,000 paint color options – including classic tones and exclusive colors inspired by legendary models in Mercedes history.
Along with the S-Class and E-Class, the G-Class is one of the three Mercedes-Benz models with the longest continuous production period. Over more than four decades, the G-Class has not only maintained its outstanding off-road capabilities but also become a symbol of luxury and individual lifestyle.

Despite the development of modern technology and design trends, the G-Class still retains its core values: a separate ladder-frame chassis, permanent four-wheel drive, locking differentials and the iconic square design. Details such as the round headlights, external spare wheel and side-opening tailgate are still maintained – as an affirmation of the unique character of the legendary SUV.
