These MCUs feature built-in functional safety mechanisms designed to support safety-critical applications. Combined with a dedicated safety software framework, this is the first mainstream MCU at this price point designed to meet automotive safety level C (ASIL C) and safety integrity level 2 (SIL 2) requirements with redundant safety testing.
Further enhancing the safety functionality of the product line, these MCUs comply with the TÜV Rheinland certified functional safety management system.

Hardware safety features include dual-core locked CPUs, dual Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), memory-wide Error Correcting Code (ECC), dedicated error controller module, fault injection mechanism, voltage and timing information display.
These features contribute to shortening the time to error detection and reducing software complexity. The AVR® SD series provides fast and accurate internal error detection, allowing applications to meet the stringent 1-millisecond error-to-detection (FDTI) requirements, helping to avoid dangerous situations and improve reliability.
