Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3, heavy rain across a wide area and rising floodwaters have caused thousands of houses in border communes of Nghe An province to be deeply submerged, cutting off transportation.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Science and Technology , Viettel Network Corporation (Viettel Group) has opened roaming and interconnected telecommunications signals so that users of all network providers can communicate via Viettel's network in areas that have been cut off.

Specifically, Viettel has enabled roaming in 27 communes, including 16 border communes, ensuring that mobile subscribers in these areas can maintain basic service and meet communication needs for rescue and relief efforts.

In addition, Viettel Network Corporation is ready to implement solutions using drones combined with satellite transmission for broadcasting.

Drones flying at altitudes of hundreds of meters create a coverage radius of 6 km, reaching flooded areas, landslide-prone areas, or mountainous terrain where roads are isolated and mobile broadcasting vehicles cannot access, ensuring uninterrupted communication for search and rescue operations and for people in these areas.

Viettel also deployed hundreds of additional teams to provide emergency information services at base stations and cable lines; handle fixed broadband subscriber issues and repair generators to support provinces affected by natural disasters; and simultaneously, stockpiled emergency information supplies ready for all situations.

In solidarity with the flood-affected people of Nghe An province, on July 24th, Viettel Telecom completed the process of adding funds to the accounts of 31,000 customers in areas isolated by the floods.

Specifically, each customer is credited with 20,000 VND to their account to make calls, send messages, and access data to maintain communication during emergencies.

Previously, Viettel Telecom quickly implemented support policies for nearly 4 million customers in areas predicted to be affected by Typhoon No. 3.
