On December 17th, information from the Nghe An Provincial Election Committee indicated that the committee had issued a decision specifying and announcing the number of electoral units, the list of electoral units, and the number of representatives to be elected to the Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term in each unit throughout the province.
Specifically, Nghe An province is divided into 20 electoral units for electing representatives to the Provincial People's Council. These electoral units are defined by their administrative boundaries, population size, and the number of Provincial People's Council representatives to be elected in each unit, ensuring compliance with current laws and the practical conditions of the locality.
The division of electoral units is carried out in accordance with the principles of democracy, equality, direct election, and legality. Each electoral unit elects 3 to 5 representatives to the Provincial People's Council; the total number of representatives to be elected to the Nghe An Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term is 85.
The structure and number of delegates in each constituency are calculated to ensure reasonable representation of voters while facilitating the organization of elections.
According to the Nghe An Provincial Election Committee, the arrangement and identification of electoral units is an important basis for implementing the next steps of the election process, from consultation and nomination of candidates, to the compilation and posting of voter lists, to election propaganda and campaigning in accordance with the regulations of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Council Deputies.
The decision also clarifies the responsibilities of the heads of the provincial People's Council election committees, the heads of relevant departments, agencies, and units, and individuals responsible for organizing and implementing all the stipulated contents fully and seriously. The assigned agencies and units are responsible for coordinating closely and ensuring the progress and quality of work according to the plan.
In addition, the Provincial Election Committee requires that information regarding electoral units and the number of representatives to be elected in each unit be published publicly and transparently so that voters in the province can promptly understand, monitor, and fully exercise their rights and obligations as citizens in the election of representatives to the Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term.
