On average, Ninh Duong Ward Health Station receives more than 200 people for medical examination and treatment each month. Most people with chronic diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, etc. come to the station for examination and medication. Doctors and nurses maintain a 24/7 duty schedule, ensuring that first aid cases are handled and promptly transferred to higher levels.
The Ward Health Station also implements national target programs well. Accordingly, children of vaccination age are fully vaccinated; 100% of children aged 0 to 5 years old are given vitamin A twice a year and receive nutrition counseling, so the rate of malnutrition in children has decreased over the years. Reproductive health care and family planning are given attention; pregnant women are managed, have regular prenatal check-ups three times, are vaccinated against tetanus, and are supplemented with iron and multivitamins to prevent anemia. Every year, the Ward Health Station also makes a list to monitor the elderly aged 60 years and older, provides disease prevention counseling, medical examinations, and provides medication, thereby detecting diseases promptly and improving the effectiveness of treatment.
Dr. Hoang Thi Thanh Huyen, Head of Ninh Duong Ward Health Station, said: We regularly organize health promotion and consultation activities for people through the ward radio system, small group communication sessions, billboards, posters... The promotion content focuses on health care for people, prevention of infectious diseases, improving nutrition for children... thereby raising awareness of local people about health care for themselves and their families. Direct communication at health stations is also focused on, especially during expanded vaccination campaigns.
Family planning services are fully deployed, ensuring free contraceptives for those in need. In 2024, 9,759 new people applied modern contraceptive methods, exceeding the plan by 138.9%. Reproductive health examination and screening activities are organized in 100% of communes and wards, helping to detect and treat many related diseases early.
The sex ratio at birth in Mong Cai City in 2024 is 116.1 boys/100 girls, achieving the set target. The "Reducing Gender Imbalance" clubs have organized 68 meetings, attracting more than 2,140 participants. Propaganda activities in schools and small groups in villages and neighborhoods have also been implemented synchronously.
The rate of pregnant women who received prenatal screening reached 100%, of which 94.1% were screened for at least 4 common congenital diseases. The rate of newborns who were screened reached 87.4%, exceeding the set plan; 14,225 elderly people (98.5%) received periodic health check-ups, an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous year.
