Traversing through sparse, golden-leaved dipterocarp forests leads to a sun-drenched, windswept border region. Dak Lak is a province located in the heart of the strategically important Central Highlands. It holds significant political , socio-economic, and national defense and security importance, with a border stretching over 71 km bordering Cambodia.
Lieutenant Colonel Rơ Lan Ngân, Deputy Political Commissar of the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command, stated that the border area of Dak Lak province comprises four communes in two border districts: Ia R'vê, Ia Lốp, and Ea Bung communes (Ea Súp district) and Krông Na commune (Buôn Đôn district). This area is home to 26 ethnic groups living together, united in their commitment to the strategic border region.

Recognizing that being close to the people, understanding their needs, and caring for their lives is the foundation for building a solid "people's support base," the Party Committee and Command of the Dak Lak Border Guard have implemented the motto: "The outpost is our home, the border is our homeland, and the people of all ethnic groups are our brothers and sisters." Thanks to this, over the years, the image of border guard officers and soldiers selflessly helping the people in flood and storm prevention, rescue operations, social welfare support, maintaining security and order, and managing and protecting forests has been deeply imprinted in the minds of the people in the border region.
Attending the inauguration ceremony of the flag-lined road, street lighting, and security camera system supported by the Youth Unions of Lam Dong, Binh Duong, and Dak Lak provinces, Mr. Le Dang Tuyen - Secretary of the Party Branch of Du village, Ia Lop commune, Ea Sup district, shared: “In recent years, the lives of the people have improved significantly. Especially the conversion of crop structure according to the guidance of the local government and border guards has significantly improved income. As a result, people feel secure and committed to working with the border guards in carrying out political tasks in the locality with the motto 'every citizen on the border is a living landmark'." According to Mr. Tuyen, in remote areas, besides economic development, ensuring security and safety also helps people feel more secure in their lives, contributing to maintaining a prosperous and peaceful border.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Rơ Lan Ngân, over the years, under the leadership of the Party Committee of the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee, the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command has directed its agencies and units to effectively carry out tasks of protecting border sovereignty and security, including advising local Party committees and authorities on socio-economic development. In particular, they have intensified propaganda efforts to change people's perceptions regarding economic development and poverty reduction. The Border Guard Command and local authorities have also identified one of their key tasks as helping people improve their awareness, change their ways of thinking and doing things, and thereby apply science and technology to economic development. To date, the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command has implemented many large-scale projects in the border area, such as irrigation canals, drainage systems, housing support, and economic development. This contributes to consolidating and strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the Border Guard forces, and helps build a "people's support base" to meet the requirements of protecting national sovereignty and border security.
