Cunha becomes MU's first new player in the summer of 2025. |
"Manchester United has officially reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign striker Matheus Cunha. The signing process is subject to the completion of visa procedures and competition registration," the announcement on MU's homepage said.
According to The Athletic , MU agreed to pay the full £62.5 million release clause for Cunha. He signed a 5-year contract with the "Red Devils" and debuted in the early stages of the summer.
"The entire Manchester United team is very excited to welcome Matheus Cunha to Old Trafford, hoping he will be an important piece for the team's future," MU concluded.
During his two-and-a-half seasons at Wolves, Cunha scored 33 goals in 92 appearances. The Brazilian striker won 13 caps for his country and made a total of 270 appearances, scoring 72 goals in the top flight across England, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.
Cunha is considered a name that would suit coach Ruben Amorim's system. Cunha usually operates as a left-sided No. 10. He can also play as one of two advanced strikers, but is also comfortable dropping deeper into a supporting midfield role to carry the ball from his own half to the other side of the pitch.
At 26, Cunha is entering the prime of his career. His talent, creativity, and footballing ability are no longer in question. The question is whether MU is the ideal destination to help this arrogant guy reach his full potential.
