In his opening speech, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Chairman of the National Press Award Final Jury, emphasized that despite many difficulties in the context of restructuring and streamlining the apparatus, central and local press agencies still actively submitted entries, showing their interest and enthusiasm for the award.

According to the Preliminary Council, the number of entries for this year's competition is the highest ever, with a total of 1,970 entries. Through the urgent and serious work of 74 members of 12 sub-committees, the Preliminary Council has evaluated and selected 183 best entries from 13 award groups to present to the Final Council.

The entries closely followed and promptly and deeply reflected the country's major topics in 2024, from politics , economics, culture, society to security and defense. The highlights were the topics on efforts to implement the socio-economic development plan, key issues such as digital transformation, green transformation, and green economic development. In addition, the works also delved into the work of streamlining the apparatus, institutional reform, Party building and rectification, the fight against corruption, waste, negativity, as well as the fight against erroneous and hostile views.

At the same time, the press also does not ignore examples of good people and good deeds with noble and touching gestures. In addition, "hot" social issues such as damage caused by Typhoon Yagi , deforestation, environmental pollution, smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, driver testing, the Thich Minh Tue phenomenon, human trafficking and the hidden corners of charity shelters... are also reflected promptly and deeply.

Many local newspapers and radio stations have made significant changes in the way they choose topics and develop their works, which have been highly appreciated by the Preliminary Jury for both quality and presentation. The Final Jury is expected to work with the highest sense of responsibility, discuss thoroughly and evaluate accurately and impartially, ensuring persuasiveness to the public and colleagues nationwide.
