On June 4, Military Hospital 175 said it had received and handled a serious work accident involving a meat grinder.
The patient is Ms. NTHN (56 years old), residing in Ho Chi Minh City. On June 2, Ms. N. was admitted to the hospital in severe pain, bleeding profusely, with her hand stuck in a meat grinder.

According to her family, Mrs. N. worked as a butcher and the accident happened while she was working. At the hospital, the patient was given emergency pain relief and taken straight to the operating room under anesthesia.
Doctors carefully removed the meat grinder from the patient’s hand. At the same time, they assessed and treated the injury, combined with broken bones and soft tissue restoration. The results showed that one finger was severely crushed.
Dr. Bui Van Phuc, Department of Upper Limb Surgery, said that because the patient was transferred to the hospital in time, doctors were able to treat and retain basic hand function.

In recent times, Military Hospital 175 has received many similar cases. Most of the patients were admitted with deep, extensive injuries, with the risk of losing their entire hand or forearm, seriously affecting their ability to work and their quality of life.
Dr. Bui Van Phuc recommends that people should be especially careful when using mechanical devices and machines such as meat grinders, juicers, industrial machines, etc. These devices pose a very high risk of accidents if not operated properly. Users must strictly adhere to safety principles: do not let your hands come into contact with the machine's mouth while it is operating, check the device carefully before use, and completely disconnect the power when cleaning, repairing, or troubleshooting.
