MU aims to be in the top 6 next season

MU only dares to set a goal of entering the top 6 of the Premier League next season, an alarming step backward for the team that has won the English championship 20 times.

MU endured one of the worst seasons in the Premier League era, and that bitter reality forced them to adjust their ambitions for next season. According to the Manchester Evening News , the Old Trafford team only set a modest target of reaching the top 6 of the Premier League in 2025/26.

It sounds simple, but for MU at the moment, it is a difficult journey. After a 0-2 defeat to West Ham at the "Theatre of Dreams", the "Red Devils" fell to 16th place. If they cannot beat Aston Villa and Chelsea in the last two rounds, they can completely end the season just one place above the relegation group, something that has never happened in the history of the Premier League.

MU’s Champions League dream now depends entirely on the goal of winning the Europa League. In such a situation, MU’s leadership must be realistic. They are no longer strong enough to compete for the championship, but still have to aim for a position that is enough to retain honor, as a springboard for the reconstruction process.

However, to do that, MU needs an explosive summer transfer. The current squad lacks depth, lacks personality and is not suitable for coach Ruben Amorim's 3-4-2-1 philosophy.

Positions like attacking midfielder and striker need to be supplemented urgently. Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap are being targeted, but to bring them in, United must act quickly before their rivals enter the fray.

If they continue to struggle like this, next season could very well be another nightmare. And when that happens, Amorim's seat could collapse much faster than expected.
