At around 3:00 p.m. on April 24, thunderstorms and heavy hail occurred in communes such as Niem Son, Niem Tong, and Lung Chinh (Meo Vac district, Ha Giang ).
According to residents of Niem Son commune, the hailstorm lasted for about 10-20 minutes. Many hailstones as big as chicken eggs and plums fell and punctured tile and corrugated iron roofs. The hail covered the roads and hillsides, damaging many areas of crops.
Many passersby had to stop and seek shelter, vehicles were slightly damaged. The exact damage caused by the hail has not been estimated.

Previously, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning of the risk of hail, thunderstorms and tornadoes in the North.
Accordingly, from the evening of April 24 to the morning of April 25, the North will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain of over 70mm. The Central Highlands and the South will also experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain of over 60mm.
The Meteorological Agency warns of a high risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds during thunderstorms. Local residents should continue to monitor weather developments to respond and reduce damage.
