On the evening of November 25, the 24th Vietnam Film Festival 2025 closed and presented awards at the Army Theater (Tan Son Nhat Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh attended the event.
At this Festival, the Organizing Committee awarded the Golden Lotus Prize to the films “Red Rain” (feature film category), “Awakening and Resolving” and “Heritage Soul Keeper” (documentary category), “Little Trang Quynh: The Legend of the Taurus” and “Cricket: Adventure to the Swamp Village” (animation category), “Fine Dust - Danger in the Sky” ( science category).
In addition to the Golden Lotus Award, the film project “Red Rain” also received other award categories such as: excellent cinematography, excellent supporting actor and excellent sound. The Silver Lotus Award was given to 3 works “Tunnel - Sun in the Dark,” “Death Battle in the Sky” and “Sister-in-law.”
In addition, the acting award went to actress Phuong Anh Dao for her leading role in “Mai,” and Tuan Tran for his leading role in “Mang Me Di Bo.” The supporting actor award went to Hong Dao, Bao Dinh, and Phuong Nam.
At the ceremony, director Dang Thai Huyen, representative of the "Red Rain" film crew, said that the Award is a source of happiness for the members of the People's Army Film Crew.
According to director Dang Thai Huyen, retelling historical stories in an attractive way, capable of attracting young audiences to films about history and revolutionary wars so that they will love and be grateful to their fathers and brothers and appreciate the value of peace, is always a big challenge for filmmakers.
The female director also assessed this year's Film Festival as a successful and brilliant festival when both private and state-owned films left their mark, received positive feedback from the audience, reflected in positive signals in revenue and artistic quality. This is a good sign, creating momentum for more explosive works in the future.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Tran Cuong, Director of the Department of Cinema (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that Vietnam is one of the very few countries in the world with both the number of films produced and box office revenue exceeding the level before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rate of Vietnamese films reaching nearly 70% of the number of screenings in theaters shows the enduring vitality and strong growth of the country's cinema industry.
According to Mr. Dang Tran Cuong, the most important foundation for the boom of Vietnamese cinema is a stable political system, a developing economy, and increasingly improved people's lives.
Besides, the explosion of cinema also comes from the efforts, perseverance and creativity of the filmmaking team: from investors, producers, directors, screenwriters, actors to technicians.
“Every completed film is a long journey full of hardships, challenges, and financial risks. These efforts have created a bright picture of Vietnamese cinema in the past two years and opened up many expectations for the coming years,” the Director of the Cinema Department shared./.
