
Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Muong Nhe district, said: To promote sustainable agricultural production, the Department focuses on mobilizing and guiding people on methods and techniques for plant care; focusing on regulating irrigation water sources, avoiding local droughts that affect productivity. At the same time, stabilize the area of existing crops, convert ineffective areas to grow fruit trees, beans, peanuts, and soybeans. In particular, promptly and effectively implement support mechanisms for farmers in terms of seeds, fertilizers, and apply science and technology on implemented models. Since the beginning of the year, the Department has coordinated with the Agricultural Service Center and the District Ethnic Affairs Department to guide the People's Committees of communes to carry out winter-spring rice production, spring-summer crop production, and implement projects to support production development using career capital from national target programs. Thanks to that, the winter-spring rice cultivation area of the district reached 238.94 hectares (123% of the assigned plan), the yield reached 58.5 quintals/ha, the output was 1,386.1 tons (an increase of 252 tons compared to the winter-spring crop in 2022). For production on fields and fields such as cassava, corn, upland rice; the unit also actively mobilized people to maintain the existing area, cassava maintained 701.63 hectares; corn area 1,068.4 hectares; upland rice 897.1 hectares.
With the potential and advantages of land, in recent times, Muong Nhe district has also encouraged people to develop fruit trees and industrial trees. Up to now, Muong Nhe has developed and maintained a stable fruit tree area of 169.10 hectares, including: 44.7 hectares of oranges; 1.5 hectares of lemons; 4.3 hectares of grapefruit; 11.5 hectares of plums; 16.2 hectares of longans; 8.5 hectares of lychees; 9.3 hectares of pineapples; 36.6 hectares of bananas; 36.5 hectares of mangoes. In addition, rubber trees are maintained with an area of 1,201.42 hectares, of which the latex exploitation area is 1,030 hectares, the estimated dry latex output is 196 tons. Implementing the program of one product per commune, the district focuses on developing products with potential and advantages such as: fragrant rice, Ha Nhi red rice; buffalo meat, beef, smoked fish and fresh oranges. At the same time, create favorable conditions to support economic organizations and production households to participate in fairs, exhibitions and displays inside and outside the province, combined with promoting the introduction and consumption of products on electronic trading floors. Actively promote and mobilize entities to focus on improving product quality, expanding production scale, and creating sources of advantageous products in a concentrated direction. It is expected that by the end of 2023, Muong Nhe will conduct a classification assessment of products; including Vinh orange products of Huan Loan Agricultural Cooperative (Phieng Vai village, Nam Ke commune).
Identifying investment in essential infrastructure, especially irrigation, as a prerequisite for agricultural production, every year Muong Nhe district focuses on repairing, maintaining and investing in the construction of intra-field canal systems. Up to now, the district has 70 medium and small irrigation works with a total canal length of 115.478km. In order to strengthen management, protection and effective use, the People's Committees of communes have established 44 water user associations to manage and operate 56 works. Thanks to that, many communes have actively rotated crops, expanded the area of wet rice and increased the area of double-crop rice production such as: Muong Nhe, Chung Chai, Nam Ke, Muong Toong, Sen Thuong, Quang Lam; contributing to promoting agricultural restructuring, hunger eradication and poverty reduction for local people.
