Double valedictorian of two famous specialized schools
According to the 10th grade exam results just announced by the University of Education High School for the Gifted, Bui Nhat Minh (student of class 9A6, Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School) scored 10 points in the general Math exam and 9.75 points in the specialized Math exam.
With the formula for calculating specialized scores by doubling and adding the general score, Minh achieved a total score of 29.5/30 and became the valedictorian of the specialized Math block of the National University of Education High School for the Gifted this year. Minh's score is nearly 10 points higher than the standard score for the specialized Math block of the National University of Education High School for the Gifted in 2025 (the standard score is 20).
Previously, in the entrance exam for grade 10 of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences this year, Nhat Minh achieved a total score of 29 (including 9 points in Math for the conditional round, 10 points in specialized Math) and became the valedictorian of this school. The result he got in this exam was also 9.5 points higher than the standard score for the specialized Math block of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences in 2025 (the standard score is 19.5).
The results that the male student achieved were extremely impressive and many people commented that he was a "super master".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tho, Nhat Minh's mother, shared that she was very happy and surprised with the results her son achieved. "I was not surprised about the score, because Minh is a very confident person, so after the exam he calculated his own score. But becoming valedictorian and being valedictorian of both specialized schools was a great surprise, because the exam gathered many talented students and the admission range was wide," Ms. Tho burst into tears.
What makes Ms. Tho happiest is that through the two exams, her child's ability to maintain a stable performance has been shown.
Ms. Tho said that her son loves Math and finds it a joy to learn it. “Because he loves it, Minh doesn’t seem to feel tired when learning Math. For him, learning Math is like eating every day. My husband and I just create conditions so that he can have a quiet space to study.”
The couple also did not forbid their children from using phones and computers. In fact, Tho even bought them computers and phones since they were in 6th grade. “But Minh really did not use them to play games or do anything other than studying,” Tho said.
Nhat Minh shared that with Math, he does not study to compete with anyone, but with his own love and passion. Every day, he spends a few hours reviewing the knowledge he learned in class and finding new problems on Math forums and groups.
Before the exam, Minh usually spends 1 day to summarize the knowledge he has and the experience he has gained in taking the test so that he can do his best on the test. During the exam, Minh always tries to do the basic questions as solidly and quickly as possible, to save more time for the difficult, classified questions.
Don't "rest on your laurels"
Ms. Tho said that her son is quite disciplined and often sets rules for himself.
Minh is always self-disciplined and self-studying but does not stay up too late to study. “No matter what I study, I will go to bed by 11pm at the latest to prepare best for the next morning.
Nhat Minh is a special boy, very conscious, so from childhood until now, he has never had to be scolded or reminded for anything. "From childhood until now, he has never been late for school once," said Ms. Tho.
Ms. Tho commented that Nhat Minh is a very calm, mature person and is always willing to share with his friends. In class, Nhat Minh is an exemplary, responsible but always modest deputy class monitor. Last summer, Nhat Minh also initiated opening a class to review for students in the class who wish to take the Math exam.

Up to now, Nhat Minh has won many awards and medals in Mathematics. His collection includes about 50 medals and awards of all kinds. These include 2 Gold Medals in the " World Mathematics Team Championship - WMTC" competition; Champion of the International Mathematics Talent Search Competition ITMC in grade 7;...
In 8th grade, Nhat Minh "skipped a level" to participate in the city-level math competition and won second prize. This 9th grade, Nhat Minh won first prize in the city-level math competition.
In addition to studying, Nhat Minh also regularly plays badminton and actively participates in class activities.
During this time, Nhat Minh is still waiting for the results of the 10th grade entrance exam organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. However, the male student is still more interested in the specialized Math block of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences or the High School for the Gifted in the University of Education if both are admitted.
Ms. Tho said that after hearing the news about his score, her son remained calm and did not “rest on his laurels.” “These days, he has begun to learn the 10th grade curriculum on his own and learn how to participate in high school competitions,” Ms. Tho said.
