Speaking with VietNamNet on October 20, Ms. Tran Thi Luc, Principal of Minh Phu High School, confirmed that the incident happened to a 10th grade student of her school and that the school immediately reported it to the Soc Son Commune Police.

“Immediately after receiving information on social media on October 17, the school reported to Soc Son Commune Police and the police worked with the family that same evening. The incident was determined to have taken place on October 15, involving 6 students. Among the group of young men surrounding the male student were some who had played with the male student since middle school. Currently, these students have dropped out of school,” Ms. Luc said.

Ms. Luc said that the initial cause was determined to be a conflict stemming from a few back and forth, challenging words. “The incident was discovered online, but the student did not tell his parents and teachers at school to help, support, or handle the situation. In fact, the next morning, October 16, the male student still went to school as usual,” Ms. Luc said.

Ms. Luc said that on October 17, after receiving information about the incident, the school also sent a representative to visit the health of this male student. "The student's mental state is now basically stable. When the student comes to school, the school also arranges teachers to provide psychological counseling to support him," Ms. Luc said.

The principal said that the school has also reported the incident to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. The incident is currently being verified and clarified by the Soc Son Commune Police for resolution.
