Improve operational efficiency after restructuring

On August 18 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations held the 13th Conference of the Standing Committee, term VI, chaired by Mr. Phan Anh Son, Chairman and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice Chairman. The conference was attended by members of the Standing Committee and representatives of a number of central agencies.

In his opening speech, Mr. Phan Anh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations , said that the Conference focused on discussing the key tasks deployed since the beginning of the year according to the Resolution of the 10th Presidium Conference, term VI on January 9, 2025; at the same time, reporting on the organizational situation of the Union system after the arrangement according to Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW.

The Standing Committee members assessed that the key tasks were implemented seriously, on schedule and with quality, although the apparatus was in the process of being reorganized. Many member organizations closely followed the direction of the Standing Agency, carried out diverse and focused activities. Major foreign affairs activities according to plan and suddenly occurred were effectively implemented, including advising and organizing people-to-people foreign affairs activities during overseas trips of Party and State leaders and welcoming heads of state to Vietnam. The work of monitoring the local situation and advising achieved many positive changes.

Delegates proposed many solutions to improve work efficiency in the last months of 2025, including perfecting the mechanism, organization, personnel and resources after rearranging local Unions; issuing guidelines on organizational structure, organizing congresses, emulation and rewards, ensuring the rights of cadres working in people's foreign affairs... Organizing the 75th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations is identified as a key task, which needs to properly reflect the role of people's foreign affairs and highlight historical values.

Concluding the Conference, Mr. Phan Anh Son acknowledged the opinions of the delegates and responded carefully to the opinions raised by the delegates. He said that after the Conference, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will issue guidelines on organizing congresses, regulations, names, terms, structures and work orientations for 2026, promote propaganda on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Union's Traditional Day, adjust the division of the Union of Friendship Organizations clusters in provinces and cities, and issue emulation and reward regulations suitable for practice.

Mr. Son emphasized that the strength of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations system is based on the proactive and responsible activities of local Unions and the Standing Committee, which is the strategic orientation for the system to operate effectively, synchronously and substantially.
