On November 17, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations held the "75th Anniversary Ceremony of Traditional Day (November 17, 1950 - November 17, 2025) and the Patriotic Emulation Congress for the period 2025-2030."
Attending the ceremony were Comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central organizations, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son.

In his opening speech, Mr. Phan Anh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, emphasized that right from the early days of the country's founding, President Ho Chi Minh directed the establishment of the first people's foreign affairs organizations: the Vietnam-US Friendship Association, the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Association, and the Vietnam World Peace Protection Committee, opening up a special diplomatic method, flexible but persistent, quiet but profound: that is people's diplomacy.
Entering the period of innovation and deep integration, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and its member organizations not only contribute to bringing Vietnam "out into the world", but also bring the world to each locality and each community.
The Union has affirmed its active role in many regional and international forums; played a good role as a focal point in relations and aid mobilization, actively supported poverty reduction, ensured social security, supported healthcare, education, environmental protection, overcame the consequences of war, and responded to natural disasters and epidemics.
Research work, foreign information and overseas Vietnamese have also been strongly promoted, contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam and enhancing understanding and trust among nations.
Mr. Phan Anh Son emphasized that the positive results that the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations has achieved in recent years are thanks to the correct strategic direction of President Ho Chi Minh and generations of Party and State leaders, the effective support and coordination of ministries, departments, branches, and localities, and especially thanks to the persistent and silent dedication of many generations of cadres.
In the coming time, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will continue to promote tradition, innovate thinking, content and methods of operation; build and consolidate the apparatus in a unified and effective direction, train a team of cadres with courage, ethics and capacity to meet new requirements of the work; consolidate and expand the network of friends, partners and areas of cooperation.
At the ceremony, Politburo member Bui Thi Minh Hoai congratulated and commended generations of leaders, cadres, civil servants, workers and all those working in people's foreign affairs of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations for their proud achievements over the past 75 years.
Pointing out that the increasingly complicated world situation and the domestic situation are urgent requirements for the new era of national development, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai requested that in that context, organizations doing people's foreign affairs work under the Vietnam Fatherland Front in general, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and its member organizations in particular need to truly transform, make breakthroughs, and innovate more strongly; continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's policies, guidelines, visions, and strategic thinking on the goals and tasks in the new era of national development, becoming a developed country with high income, steadily moving towards socialism.
People's diplomacy must put itself in the general flow of the country, must serve the cause of protecting, building and developing a rich, prosperous, civilized and happy country.
Advise the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front on creating profound changes in awareness of people-to-people diplomacy. It is necessary to have a clear consensus on the awareness of foreign affairs officials and all levels and sectors on the role, position, and relationship between Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.
People's diplomacy must promote its strengths, closely linking "the Party's will with the people's hearts," and connecting "the great national unity bloc with noble international solidarity."
People's diplomacy must play an important role, together with Party foreign affairs and State diplomacy, in continuing to "combine the multi-layered strength of the nation with the strength of the times" to work with the whole country to "build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, making a worthy contribution to the world revolutionary cause" as directed by General Secretary To Lam in recent times.
Continue to closely and harmoniously coordinate with Party foreign affairs and State diplomacy in advising the Party and State on the effective development and implementation of foreign affairs and people's diplomacy policies, guidelines, strategies and plans; further promote its core and specialized role in advising the Vietnam Fatherland Front in gathering forces to do people's diplomacy work throughout the country, forming a large people's diplomacy front that operates truly effectively.
Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai also requested that ministries, departments and branches at the central and local levels continue to pay due attention, closely coordinate, direct and guide the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in organizing and implementing people-to-people diplomacy, creating maximum conditions within the possible scope to ensure that people-to-people diplomacy activities are organized practically and effectively.
At the ceremony, the Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam, the United Nations Resident Representative in Vietnam, representatives of foreign non-governmental organizations, partner organizations, member organizations at the central and local levels and generations of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations delivered speeches.
The presentations highly appreciated the development of Vietnam, a country that gradually went from war to peace, from poverty to development, from isolation to international leadership, as a testament to the resilience, intelligence and vision of the Vietnamese people.
It is also a prime example of how cooperation and solidarity can transform a nation and contribute to the global common good.
Delegates also appreciated the role of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in connecting Vietnam with partners, organizations and the international community, building understanding between hearts, transcending politics and ideology, connecting cultures and continents, and nurturing the values of trust, empathy and respect - the fundamental pillars of lasting peace.
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and its member organizations, together with the Vietnamese people's foreign affairs forces, have demonstrated that friendship transcends all borders, cultures and ideologies and that solidarity can heal, rebuild and inspire.
In recognition of the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in people-to-people diplomacy, mobilizing international support, solidarity and resources, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country, Comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.
The Presidium of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations awarded Certificates of Merit to 13 collectives and 19 individuals as "Advanced models in the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations for the period 2021-2025".
On this occasion, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son launched the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2025-2030 in the entire system of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations with the theme: "Solidarity, proactive adaptation, innovation, creativity, emulation to excellently complete political tasks, building a strong, professional, modern system of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations"./.
