On the morning of May 24, in Phu My town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Tan Cang - Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port (TCTT) under Saigon Newport Corporation (TCSG) and Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) co-organized the opening ceremony connecting the two ports.
Comrade Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee spoke. |
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Van Tho, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (BR-VT); Mai Ngoc Thuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of BR-VT province; Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of BR-VT province; Colonel Nguyen Nang Toan, Party Secretary, Chairman of TCSG Corporation; Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, General Director of TCSG Corporation; representatives of the Ministry of Transport , Vietnam Maritime Administration, BR-VT Provincial Customs Department, Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority, Cai Mep Port Customs Branch, local agencies, departments, branches, shareholders, partners and staff of the two ports.
In response to the proposal of the two ports, the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration have issued a document approving the policy of allowing research into connecting the common berth between Tan Cang - Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port and Cai Mep International Port. This cooperation has also received support from the General Department of Customs, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Customs Department and the Cai Mep Port Customs Branch, allowing goods to be transported between the two ports through an internal connection gateway.
Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, General Director of Saigon Newport Corporation, spoke. |
This is a pioneering alliance solution to address the above challenges, making the most of the synchronous infrastructure, forming an interconnected port with a total wharf length of up to 1,200 meters, while bringing many benefits to customers and shipping lines:
It is known that the opening of the connecting port and the exploitation of the common berth B3 will increase the exploitation capacity of both ports, enhancing the capacity to receive new service routes. Along with the Government and the Ministry of Transport studying the open port mechanism for the Cai Mep port cluster, the cooperation in investing in a connected port with a length of 1,200m is expected to increase the exploitation capacity by 30% - 40%, equivalent to about 900,000 TEU/year. From there, it helps to optimize the arrangement of ships docking for existing service routes and flexibly receive additional departures, ensuring service quality and increasing the value of benefits for customers and shipping lines.
Delegates performed the opening ceremony of Tan Cang - Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port and Cai Mep International Port. |
On the other hand, this cooperation not only takes advantage of the strengths of each port but also opens up greater opportunities for the common development of the Cai Mep port cluster. The cooperation in exploiting the common wharf B3 is not only a strategic step in improving the exploitation capacity but also aims to develop Cai Mep gateway port into the largest transit port in the country, with regional and world stature.
This event is not only a breakthrough in infrastructure and technology improvement solutions but also an important step in enhancing the brand value of the two ports, marking cooperation and accompanying development for a common goal; is the beginning of a pioneering strategic cooperation model in the field of exploitation and development of seaports in the Cai Mep area./.
