The 7.7km Ham Kiem - Tien Thanh road, connecting the expressway to the coastal road of Binh Thuan, has been completed with asphalt paving and is expected to be open to traffic along the entire route by the end of June 2024.

The Ham Kiem - Tien Thanh road project, connecting the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway and National Highway 1 to the DT719B coastal road, commenced in November 2021. The project has a total investment of 400 billion VND.

This is a route connecting the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway and National Highway 1 to the coastal road DT719B, passing through Phan Thiet City and Ham Thuan Nam District (Binh Thuan Province), and leading to La Gi town (Ham Tan District).

According to the approved design, the project will be constructed with a length of 7.7km. The roadbed width will be 37m, and the road surface width will be 16m. The route will include the construction of 3 new reinforced concrete bridges, investment in drainage systems, landscaping, and traffic safety systems.

This is a key project of the province to promote tourism development and serve as a bypass for National Highway 1. After its opening, this road will shorten travel time to Ke Ga Cape, develop tourism, and leverage the strengths of Binh Thuan province's marine economy .

Along both sides of the route are dragon fruit farms and orchards in Ham Thuan Nam - the dragon fruit capital of Binh Thuan province.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Hai, Project Director of Viet Hoa Construction Company, the entire main route has been paved with asphalt, and the contractor is currently completing auxiliary and traffic safety items. "It is expected that the asphalt paving of the bridges along the route will be completed by June 25th, so that it can be handed over to the investor soon," Mr. Hai said.

According to observations by reporters from Giao Thong Newspaper, as of the morning of June 20th, the entire route had been paved with asphalt, and the contractor was completing auxiliary items and painting road markings in preparation for handover and commissioning.

A section of the roundabout connecting Ham Kiem - Tien Thanh road connects to the coastal road DT719B, which is currently under construction.

Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, said: Immediately after the expressways came into operation, the number of tourists visiting Phan Thiet increased significantly. This also forms the basis for Binh Thuan province to set a target of welcoming 9.5 million tourists in 2024. Binh Thuan province is focusing on strengthening transportation connectivity to facilitate easy access to tourist destinations for tourists, increasing revenue and retaining visitors.
