Vietnam tourism industry welcomes good news

Vietnam's tourism industry has had two bustling months, welcoming nearly 17 million visitors with estimated revenue of VND136.1 trillion.

On March 1, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) informed that in the past two months, international visitors to our country reached more than 3 million; domestic visitors reached 14 million, of which 4.9 million were staying. Total revenue from tourists in the first two months of 2024 is estimated at 136.1 trillion VND.

The excitement of tourism activities and the results of welcoming international visitors in the first 2 months of 2024 show a very positive recovery of Vietnam's tourism industry. These are positive signals for our country's tourism industry right in the beginning of 2024, laying the foundation for the industry to complete the goal of welcoming 18 million international visitors this year.

In terms of market size, South Korea continues to be the largest market sending visitors. China ranks second, followed by Taiwan (China), followed by the United States. The top 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism also include Japan, Australia, Malaysia, India, Cambodia and Thailand.

Overall, in the first two months of the year, all regions grew strongly compared to the same period in 2023. Notably, the recovery of the Asian market (77.8%), Europe (76%), Oceania (36.5%), and the Americas increased slightly (8.4%).

In particular, the Chinese market has had a very impressive recovery, 7.5 times higher than the same period in 2023. Along with that, major markets continue to grow strongly, namely Korea, Japan and Taiwan (China). Southeast Asian markets have grown well.

The potential market of India continues to bring positive signals with an increase of 34.7% compared to the same period in 2023, ranking 8th in the top 10 leading markets. Notably, markets in Europe all grew vigorously, especially markets enjoying unilateral visa exemption policies such as: UK (32.6%), France (34.6%), Germany (7.1%), Italy (82.3%), Spain (48.5%), Russia (58.7%)...

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism continues to disseminate and popularize policies and guidelines on tourism; promote and introduce Vietnamese tourism domestically and internationally on the national tourism website https://vietnamtourism.gov.vn, https://vietnam.travel and social networking sites (Facebook, YouTube, Zalo, Viber...).

Notably, information about Directive No. 06/CT-TTg dated February 15, 2024 of the Prime Minister on urging the implementation of key tasks after the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, including the requirement to study and expand the visa exemption policy; Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024 of the Prime Minister on comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism development in the coming time.

The national tourism website and social networks of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration continue to promote Vietnam's outstanding destinations and tourism products.
