This is the first time that the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology has offered full scholarships to Sri Lankan students. The scholarship package includes full tuition for one year of Vietnamese language study and five years of engineering program, along with accommodation, living expenses, insurance and round-trip airfare.
The training majors are selected to suit the socio -economic development needs of Sri Lanka, and are also the strengths of the Academy such as Information Technology, Information Security, Artificial Intelligence, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Internet of Things Technology - IoT.
Speaking at the scholarship announcement ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Trinh Thi Tam emphasized:
“The Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology is a school with a long tradition, high prestige and is one of the leading training institutions in the field of ICT in Vietnam. The training majors at the school are very suitable for the development needs and orientation of the current Sri Lankan Government .
I believe that, in addition to acquiring knowledge from school, the students receiving this scholarship will have the opportunity to learn about the country, people and culture of Vietnam, becoming bridges connecting cooperation and people-to-people exchange between the two countries."
The Ambassador affirmed that he will continue to promote cooperation in education and training - a very potential field of cooperation between the two countries in the coming time; at the same time, he highly appreciated the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology for actively coordinating with the Embassy during the implementation of this program, contributing to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Sri Lanka.
The scholarship students come from many localities of Sri Lanka such as Kandy, Matara, Ambakote; most of them are children of families whose parents are members of political parties in Sri Lanka such as the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, JVP... with outstanding academic achievements and desire to access high-quality education in Vietnam.

Student Viduka Gimhana Dhammage from Kandy, shared: “I was very touched when I was selected along with other students. This is a great opportunity for us to learn, improve our skills and knowledge, especially in the field of technology, which is a growing industry in Sri Lanka.
I will do my best to live up to the trust of the Vietnamese Government and people."
Ms. Ho Thi My Ai, parent of student Chandrasooriya Jinali Thawinsa, emotionally said: “My family is very grateful to the Vietnamese Government, the Embassy and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology for giving my daughter the opportunity to study in Vietnam. My daughter not only learned knowledge but also connected more deeply with Vietnam, my beloved homeland.”
The Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology has developed a learning path specifically for Sri Lankan students, closely combining theory and practice and equipping them with global digital skills.
This full scholarship program is the result of effective coordination between the Embassy of Vietnam in Sri Lanka and the Academy, and is a vivid symbol of friendship and sharing between the two developing countries.
In the context of globalization, education becomes a sustainable diplomatic tool, the program helps build trust, strengthen human connections and is the foundation for many future strategic cooperations, for the sustainable development and future of the young generation of the two countries.
