The ship with more than 2,300 officers and sailors commanded by Rear Admiral Thomas Shultz began a friendship visit to Da Nang from December 8 to 11.
Attending the welcoming ceremony were representatives of the leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs, the City Military Command, the City Border Guard Command, the Naval Region 3 Command, the Military Region 5 Command, and representatives of the Foreign Affairs Department ( Ministry of National Defense ).

The 7th Fleet is the US Navy's largest forward operating fleet, operating with allies and partners to maintain a free and open Indo- Pacific environment.
Within the 7th Fleet area of responsibility, Task Force 76 conducts expeditionary operations, mobilizing Navy and Marine Corps resources to support regional contingencies, from crisis management to large-scale combat operations.
2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations. The visit of the US Navy ship to Da Nang City contributes to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2023. With its potential in tourism, culture, economy and hospitality, Da Nang City is always ready to be a bridge for defense-security cooperation activities, cultural-sport exchanges and experience sharing between the two navies.

During the visit, the ship's commanding officers paid courtesy visits to the leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Military Region 5, Naval Region 3, exchanged expertise, participated in sports activities with naval officers, interacted with children at Hope Village and students at the University of Foreign Languages - Da Nang University and visited local culture and tourism sites.
