TKV always provides sufficient and timely coal for thermal power plants operating in 2025.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade acknowledged that by 2025, coal mining conditions will be increasingly deep and far away, increasing production costs; the implementation of licensing procedures for exploration, exploitation, investment, restructuring, and recruitment of underground mining workers will still encounter obstacles and difficulties; the weather will be complicated, with many storms and rains; hydropower will be mobilized to the maximum, leading to a decrease in coal supply to thermal power plants and difficulties in coal consumption...
Determined not to let coal shortage for electricity production
Regarding the supply of coal for electricity production in 2025, Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group Nguyen Huy Nam said: In performing the task of supplying coal for electricity, TKV always closely follows the operation of thermal power plants to develop a plan to prepare sufficient and timely coal supply for thermal power plants to operate in 2025, providing enough coal for electricity production in the dry season months.
It is expected that in 2025, raw coal production will be 38.4 million tons, equal to 100.9% of the annual plan; coal consumption will be 44 million tons, equal to 88% of the annual plan, of which coal for electricity production is expected to be 36.76 million tons, equal to 87.5% of the annual plan and 92% of the 2024 plan.
Units shall carry out coal mining in accordance with the granted mining licenses and TKV's operating plans; strictly implement measures and solutions to fully exploit coal resources and reduce coal loss rates.
TKV has maintained regular inspections, surprise inspections, and specialized inspections on asset protection, resource protection, and mine boundaries. The work of natural disaster prevention and response to climate change has directed units to proactively carry out natural disaster prevention and search and rescue work right from the beginning of the year with the motto "3 before, 4 on-site", "early, from afar, from the base"; Check, consolidate, and ensure the safety of works before the rainy and stormy season, especially the safety of soil and rock waste dumps, dykes at the foot of waste dumps, reservoir dams, etc.

High-pressure misting system to suppress dust at Cua Ong Coal Selection Company helps to minimize the amount of dust emitted, ensuring the environment in production.
In particular, Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam said that labor safety is a top priority task for TKV, important throughout the Group's production and business process according to the viewpoint "No safety - no production". In 2025, all units of TKV have made a plan for labor safety with a cost of 1,622 billion VND to minimize the number of serious labor accidents.
TKV also regularly coordinates with local authorities where TKV operates to exchange information and strengthen inspection and supervision of coal and non-coal products exploitation, transportation, and consumption, and protection of resources and mine boundaries.
"TKV Group and its units have had drastic and flexible management solutions, maximizing domestic coal production output, achieving the 8% growth target in 2025 according to the Government 's direction, and basically completing the plan targets," Mr. Nam affirmed.
Efforts to achieve growth target of over 8%
In 2026, TKV builds a production and business plan: 36.845 million tons of raw coal will be mined; 50 million tons of coal will be consumed, of which 42 million tons will be supplied for electricity production; and the expected import plan is about 11 million tons.
TKV proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to supplement the National Energy Master Plan approved by the Prime Minister (QH893); on coal consumption for thermal power; coordinate in protecting resources, mine boundaries and resolving mining licensing procedures, implementing projects, site clearance and completing land lease procedures...
At the working session with the Group on December 2, Mr. Trinh Duc Duy, Deputy Director of the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal (Ministry of Industry and Trade) highly appreciated TKV's efforts in implementing the coal production and business plan and supplying coal for electricity production, achieving growth targets and ensuring national energy security.
Mr. Duy suggested that TKV continue to closely follow the planning and direction of ministries, branches and localities on coal resource management; strictly implement regulations; focus on implementing labor safety, ensuring safety in production as well as environmental work; promote the implementation of mine development projects, increase output to meet consumption needs in 2026 and the following years; closely coordinate with localities in resource management, mining licensing, resource protection, mine boundaries, security and order work, etc.
