On November 26, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province held an online meeting with 124 communes and wards on landslides, new rural construction, the 1 million hectare high-quality rice project, and disease prevention and control on crops, livestock, and aquatic products.

According to the report, from the beginning of 2025 until now, the Agriculture and Environment sector of Vinh Long province has achieved many positive results. Production value is more than 102 trillion VND, up 3.28%. 98/105 communes meet new rural standards. Cultivation area exceeds the plan, rice output reaches 1.92 million tons. Livestock and aquaculture maintain stable growth.

In 2026, the industry targets a growth rate of 3.2%; expanding 8,000 hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in 40 communes; increasing the rate of clean water use; increasing the area of ​​key crops and bringing the total aquatic product output to over 1 million tons.

Commune-level delegates reported specifically on the agricultural and rural situation at the grassroots level and discussed the following contents: assessment of agricultural targets for 2025, the disease situation on crops and livestock, progress of the 1 million hectare project and results of new rural construction. Localities also reviewed poverty reduction work, OCOP product quality, the ability to participate in value chains associated with growing area code requirements, and prepared plans to ensure production and rural security during the 2026 Lunar New Year.

Mr. Chau Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested departments, branches and localities to develop detailed implementation plans for each commune and ward, ensuring the completion of new rural criteria, with special attention to environmental landscape. He requested the development of key agricultural products, improving quality and food safety, building brands and supporting people in production, processing and consumption of products. Localities need to proactively monitor the developments of storms and floods and prepare response plans.

Regarding the work of preventing and controlling plant and animal diseases, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need for systematic implementation, while supporting the recovery of damage caused by natural disasters and epidemics. Units must review poverty reduction targets and targets, clearly identify causes and targets to have appropriate solutions; create conditions for poor households to develop production, improve their lives, and contribute to the completion of local socio-economic goals.
