Within the framework of the Task of Sub-project 1, Project 4 of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024, on November 28, in An Giang, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture organized the "Demonstration and experimental training day for agricultural workers in poor households, near-poor households, newly escaped poverty households and low-income workers".
The morning of the Festival featured demonstrations and experiments on a number of key agricultural occupations. These activities aimed to help people access techniques through direct practice.
The introduced occupations include: Organic rice cultivation; cultivation and processing of edible and medicinal mushrooms; seafood processing techniques; handicrafts; veterinary medicine management and use; aquaculture medicine management and use; agricultural environmental management.

At each demonstration site, instructors, technicians and artisans directly guide the operating process. At the same time, they specifically explain the technical requirements and support people to practice on the spot. This organization helps workers easily access knowledge. People also grasp skills faster and have a basis to evaluate the suitability of each profession to production conditions as well as the family's employment needs.
In the afternoon, the workshop "Discussion and exchange to find solutions to improve the quality of vocational training for rural workers, increase the rate of workers with jobs after training" took place according to the official program.

In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Hiep, Head of the Department of Science and Technology, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, emphasized the significance of the task for sustainable poverty reduction in An Giang province.
According to him, the locality has a diverse agricultural structure and has formed many large-scale raw material areas, so the construction and organization of vocational training models need to be linked to production practices and labor needs of cooperatives and enterprises. The implementation of tasks under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction plays an important role in supporting disadvantaged workers, improving production capacity and creating sustainable jobs.
At the workshop, representatives of departments and branches presented reports, focusing on analyzing the results of implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period; difficulties in accessing vocational training for poor and near-poor households and ethnic minorities; as well as orientations for expanding training occupations suitable to the socio-economic conditions of the province.

Vietnam Academy of Agriculture reports the results of a survey on vocational training needs and proposes a list of effective occupations for poor workers in raw material areas, including: Rice, mushrooms, animal husbandry - veterinary medicine, aquaculture and environmental management.
The general discussion session recorded many contributions from businesses, cooperatives and workers. Delegates agreed that, to improve the effectiveness of vocational training, it is necessary to: Provide flexible training, suitable for the season; increase practice by at least 70% of the duration; organize on-site or mobile training; link training with recruitment commitments; and increase post-training support, including access to micro-credit capital and support for building livelihood models. Many opinions suggested continuing to expand training courses according to the specific needs of businesses and cooperatives in raw material areas.

The festival is a practical activity, contributing to raising awareness for rural workers. The event also creates opportunities for people to learn and practice the profession directly. At the same time, this is also a forum for management agencies, training facilities and businesses to meet and exchange. Through that, the parties together overcome difficulties and agree on solutions for the period 2026 - 2030.
The implementation of the tasks under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction 2024 of the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture in An Giang is assessed to be suitable to practical needs. This activity contributes to improving the quality of human resources in the locality. Thereby, promoting poverty reduction and developing the rural economy in a sustainable direction.
