From early morning to evening of May 2, the Emergency Department of Poison Control of Ha Tinh General Hospital received more than 100 patients. Every time they hear the sound of an ambulance entering the hospital or the urgent calls of a patient, the doctors and nurses quickly arrange and assign tasks to receive and provide emergency care with the highest sense of responsibility. The person who guides the procedures, the person who prepares the necessary tools and machines for the diagnosis process, the person who approaches the patient to grasp information, medical history and examination... Each step and each procedure is performed by doctors and nurses skillfully, smoothly and urgently.
The peculiarity of the Poison Control Emergency Department is that patients are not fixed and can come at any time, so the concept of holidays almost does not exist. The doctors and nurses on duty must always be ready. Many times, when there are many patients coming to the emergency room at the same time, the doctors and nurses work even harder. After the examination, initial emergency care and classification of patients to inpatient departments, the doctors and nurses have a short break. At the Intensive Care Unit, doctors and nurses are on duty, closely monitoring the condition of 33 patients. During holidays and Tet, many other departments in the hospital will have fewer patients, but the Intensive Care Unit is always "full of beds". Considered the last line of the hospital, patients in the Intensive Care Unit are in a life-threatening situation. Therefore, it requires doctors and nurses to concentrate, observe, and monitor every small change related to the patient's vital signs, and adjust medications and medical orders accordingly.
Despite the high pressure of work, the doctors and nurses of the Intensive Care Unit always uphold the spirit of service and share the concerns of patients' families. In particular, proactively inform family members about the patient's progress and difficulties during treatment so that family members can understand and cooperate with doctors during the care process. Although we cannot fully enjoy the holidays with our families and loved ones, with the responsibility of being a doctor, the doctors and nurses of the Provincial General Hospital try their best to do their professional duties well. Caring for, treating and saving the lives of patients is a great joy, encouragement and motivation for each white-blouse soldier.
