Nghe An launches response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025

On the afternoon of April 18, in Vinh city, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a launching ceremony in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), the 5th Nghe An Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest, 2025.

On November 4, 2021, the Government issued Decision No. 1862 to take April 21 every year as Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day to affirm the position, role and importance of books.

This is also an opportunity to honor readers, creators, publishers, printers, distributors and to enhance the responsibility of all levels, sectors, functional agencies and social organizations in building and developing a Vietnamese reading culture.

In 2025, the message of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is: "Reading culture - Connecting the community", "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading books - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity".

In Nghe An, within the framework of Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), the province organized many attractive activities such as: Exhibition, display, donation, sale of books; promotion and introduction of books about Nghe An, about President Ho Chi Minh... and many other exciting events at the exhibition spaces on Ho Tung Mau walking street, from April 18-20, 2025.

The Reading Culture Ambassador Contest has been implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism since 2019. On average, there are over 1 million entries nationwide each year.

In Nghe An, after 6 years of implementation (2019 - 2025), the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest has had over 530,000 entries. On average, each year there are over 100,000 entries for the district preliminary round, over 3,500 entries are selected to send to the provincial preliminary round, and each year 20 entries are selected to compete at the national level. From that effort, Nghe An is always in the top provinces with many entries winning high prizes.

The 2025 Nghe An Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest is open-ended and the Organizing Committee does not provide a theme. This facilitates the development of thinking ability, encourages initiative and creativity of each contestant.

At the launching ceremony, the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism expressed their wish that all people, teachers, soldiers, union members, youth and students actively respond to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day and the Nghe An Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in 2025.

This is a great opportunity to improve knowledge, serve work, study, and cultivate knowledge and skills in the new situation.

On this occasion, the representative of the Organizing Committee presented a reading culture bookcase worth 10 million VND to SOS Children's Village Vinh. At the same time, the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education also presented books and gifts to students of SOS Children's Village.
