On the morning of May 19, the Departmentof Education and Training (GD&DT) of Thu Duc City (HCMC) announced the number of students registering for the 6th grade admission survey for the 2025-2026 school year at three secondary schools in the area, including Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School and Binh Tho Secondary School.
According to statistics, a total of 3,536 students registered to participate in the survey. Of which, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School had 1,236 applications, while the enrollment quota was 315 students, equivalent to a competition ratio of about 1 to 4. Binh Tho Secondary School had 1,094 students registered for 280 enrollment quotas, the competition ratio was also at the same level.

Most notable is Hoa Lu Secondary School with 1,206 students registered, while the enrollment target is 245 students. The competition ratio here is up to nearly 1 to 5, the highest among the three schools organizing the 6th grade survey this year.
Compared to the previous school year, this year's competition ratio has increased significantly. In 2024, the total number of students applying to the three schools was only 2,837. Of which, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School had 1,025 applications out of 315 quotas (competition ratio 1/3.3), Hoa Lu Secondary School had 1,116 applications out of 385 quotas (ratio 1/2.9), and Binh Tho Secondary School had 696 applications out of 280 quotas (ratio 1/2.5).
Regarding the survey content, according to the announcement from the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, all students registering for admission to the three above schools will participate in the capacity survey on May 24 with a test time of 90 minutes.
The survey consists of two parts. The first part is a 30-minute multiple-choice test with 20 questions in English that assesses knowledge of natural sciences , social sciences, and life skills.
The second part lasts 60 minutes, including three essay sections: testing English proficiency (reading and writing), math and logical thinking (in Vietnamese), and reading comprehension and writing (in Vietnamese).
It is expected that on May 30, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City will announce the survey scores and admission scores for grade 6 of the three above schools. In case students have the same score, the priority order for admission will be based on international English certificates from high to low, followed by students completing the primary school program according to the model of high-quality or advanced schools integrating internationally.
Please note that the survey results are only valid for admission to the school that the student initially registered for, not applicable to the other two schools.
