Having witnessed firsthand the desolation and ruin, seeing the vast waters submerging and cutting apart countless poor villages in the North... surely none of us can help but feel sorrow and compassion.
Quang Tri looks towards the North.
Bich Khe village, Quang Tri province, is making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to send to people in the North.

Countless shipments from the people of Quang Tri province, bearing the inscription "Joining hands to support the North," have been delivered to their fellow citizens.
In particular, the Women's Union of Trieu Long commune, Trieu Phong district, mobilized dozens of members to wrap 500 pairs of banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), 300 pairs of banh tay (another type of Vietnamese rice cake), and make 200 jars of lemongrass and peanut salt to send as support to people affected by natural disasters . Ms. Ngo Gia Linh, President of the Women's Union of Trieu Long commune, said: "The ingredients for wrapping the cakes were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Do Quang Vinh in Bich Khe village, including 300 kg of sticky rice and half a ton of peanuts. Members of the Women's Union in Bich Khe village actively contributed firewood, banana leaves, and labor to wrap, cook, and make the lemongrass salt."
Never before have I seen such warmth and compassion among the Vietnamese people, expressed in such a touching, humane, sharing, and supportive way, a circle of solidarity.
