The Premier League has just announced the official ball for the 2025-26 season, called PUMA Orbita Ultimate PL.
The new ball will be unveiled at the Premier League Summer Series in the US in July 2025, before being officially used from the opening day of the new season, August 16, 2025.
The PUMA Orbita Ultimate PL is designed with 12 evenly sized star-shaped panels, ensuring optimal weight distribution and shape retention. High-frequency molding technology provides long-lasting durability, while deep and wide seams improve aerodynamics, promising smoother and more precise ball movements. According to PUMA, this is “the roundest and most reliable ball ever”. The ball is now available for fans and players to play at shop.premierleague.com.
The launch of the Orbita Ultimate PL marks the start of the Premier League and PUMA’s ‘Have a Ball’ campaign, which encourages players of all levels to play with confidence and enjoy the joy of having control of the ball. According to Richard Teyssier, PUMA’s Vice President of Brand and Marketing, the average professional player only has possession of the ball for around 109 seconds per game, so every moment with the ball needs to make a difference. “We are proud that the world’s best players will create magical moments with the new ball,” Teyssier said.
The campaign also includes community initiatives, including support for grassroots football through the Premier League Kicks programme, promoting women’s and girls’ football, as well as international action and the No Room For Racism campaign. As part of the Summer Series in New Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta, PUMA and the Premier League will host community training sessions and events at PUMA’s New York flagship store, aiming to increase access to football in the US.
Will Brass, Premier League Commercial Director, said: “The launch of the new Summer Series ball marks an exciting new chapter. We are delighted to welcome PUMA as our strategic partner, helping to elevate the Premier League both on and off the pitch. We look forward to the goals and memorable moments it will bring.”
PUMA becomes the third brand to supply the Premier League’s match ball, following Mitre (1992-2000) and Nike (2000-2025). The new ball will be tested for the first time in friendlies during the Summer Series, with Manchester United, Everton, West Ham and Bournemouth taking part. It will give fans around the world a chance to get a first look at the Orbita Ultimate PL before it takes centre stage in next season’s top-flight fixtures.
On the X platform, fans have begun to discuss the design of the Orbita Ultimate PL, with many praising its modern look and looking forward to its performance. Some have compared it to iconic Nike models like the Total 90, expressing curiosity about how the new ball will impact the way teams play. With this innovation, the Premier League not only brings a high-quality ball, but also opens a new phase, connecting fans and players through the passion for football.
