Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba is on a five-day official visit to India starting today, August 18, to boost bilateral relations and prepare for Nepali Prime Minister Sharma Oli's visit to New Delhi.

On August 17, the Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Nepalese Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba paid an official visit to India at the invitation of his counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
This is Arzu Rana Deuba's first foreign visit since assuming office. During the visit, the Nepalese Foreign Minister will hold meetings with Mr. Jaishankar and "discuss issues of mutual interest to strengthen Nepal-India relations and promote cooperation between the two countries."
The visit is part of the regular exchange of high-level visits between Nepal and India, further strengthening the long-standing, deep bilateral relations and multifaceted cooperation, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal said.
"Nepal is a priority partner for India in its neighbourhood diplomacy. The visit of the Nepalese Foreign Minister provides both sides an opportunity to discuss and review progress in bilateral cooperation, which will help further deepen the relationship," the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on the visit.
