People are upset when National Highway 8C construction is slow.

The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 8C from National Highway 8 - Ho Chi Minh Road through Huong Son District is 16.7 km long. The starting point of the route is at Km90+600 - Linh Cam Bridge, in Son Long Commune (Huong Son District), the end point is at Km109 +000 at Ngan Pho Bridge, in Son Trung Commune (Huong Son District), intersecting with Ho Chi Minh Road at Km774+125. The route runs along Ngan Sau River, through rice fields and residential areas of the communes: An Hoa Thinh, Tan My Ha, Son Ninh, Son Trung...

The section passing through Son Ninh commune alone has a total length of nearly 10km and is being constructed by Thanh Huy Group Joint Stock Company. Along the route is a residential area with hundreds of households living in the villages of Trung Thi, Truong An, Tan Binh, Ninh Xa, Ngoc Tinh, Duong Dinh, Ha Tien and administrative offices and schools.

The project will be implemented from October 2023 and should be completed by October 2025. However, the project is still in disarray.

The construction contractor is working slowly, many households living next to Highway 8C have to cover with tarpaulins and sprinkle water to reduce the amount of dust entering their homes.

Mr. Tran Dang Tiep - Commander of Thanh Huy Group Joint Stock Company said: "Up to now, the project has only completed about 27% of the volume. The reason for the delay is due to unfavorable weather, limited site clearance, and scarce raw materials (soil) for leveling. The construction unit is continuing to speed up the progress to complete on time".

"Since the project started, my house has often had to be closed and covered with tarpaulin to prevent dust. It's muddy when it rains and dusty when it's sunny, so people have to water themselves regularly. We have had to live with a polluted environment for many months now, which is very inconvenient in our daily life," said Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh from Ninh Xa village (Son Ninh commune).

The family of Mr. Dang Hong Tuan - Ninh Xa village (Son Ninh commune) was also indignant when the contractor made his house completely lost its access for a long time. Vehicles wanting to enter the house had to use planks to move or needed someone to carry it across.

Many households cover their houses carefully and water them regularly, but the house is still full of dust.

Also in the thick dust, people in Duong Dinh village (Son Ninh commune) have to travel on a "miserable" road every day. The road is still in a state of being filled with soil and is rarely watered, so in hot weather, just a car passing by will cause dust to fly everywhere.

"Moving on this route always makes me feel scared. I have to move my car away or turn into a small alley every time I see a big vehicle, driving at high speed, causing dust to obscure my vision to avoid traffic collisions. Every day I travel on this route, items such as hats, glasses, clothes or motorbikes are covered with white dust," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc - Duong Dinh village (Son Ninh commune).

Many shops also have to close or open their doors slightly during the day to avoid dust.

On the route, the items are still unfinished; the components to serve the construction are arranged in a very messy manner.

National Highway 8C, the section through Son Ninh Commune, has a large volume of traffic and many households live on both sides of the road, so the slow construction progress has caused frustration. The households all hope that the construction unit will soon complete the project to ensure people's lives.

Through many meetings organized by the District People's Committee, the locality really hopes that the construction units will speed up the progress so that the project can be completed on schedule. However, due to many factors, the project volume has not yet been achieved. We have asked the contractor to pay attention to ensuring safety factors during construction and people's lives. In particular, during the time when people harvest rice, they will need a convenient transportation system to transport agricultural products.
