Disabled mother sews to earn 50 thousand a day to raise her child

I visited Le Thi Hien and her children at the address of the distress call (house number 24, lane 81, Tram street, Long Bien, Hanoi ) sent to Dan Tri Newspaper. "I'm from Vinh Phuc , but there's no work in the countryside so I came here to sew. Someone gave me this sewing machine and showed me where to get the sewing supplies. I just work slowly, making fifty, seventy dollars a day... If I get sick, I can't work" - while packing up the pile of unfinished fabric, Ms. Hien tells the story of her life.

She could not find a husband, but she longed to be a mother, that is why she had baby Hai An. Luckily, the baby girl was born healthy, with a pretty, lovely face and very affectionate, but to keep the baby until now is a story full of tears.

She told the story of giving birth to a daughter in hardship, being cheated of money and having to ask for help from the temple.

"I was pregnant, my belly was big, my legs couldn't walk, but I was still deceived. That day, I saved a few million, but when I asked someone to take me to the hospital, they took all my money. Luckily, I was helped by the people and the temple and I was able to give birth successfully."

She said, her eyes red, her voice trembling as she recalled the past days. Poor and hard in every way, but she did not dare to complain or make a fuss about anything. Her body was often in pain and she could not do much, every day she just sewed and sewed to earn money to support her mother and children.

Many nights, while sitting at the sewing machine, she hit her forehead until it bled.

Talking about Ms. Hien, Ms. Le Thi Huong - Vice Chairman of Yen Binh Commune People's Committee could not help but feel sorry: "The situation of her and her children is very pitiful. Ms. Tran Thi Mai is Ms. Hien's mother, she is constantly sick, her eyesight is poor and she cannot walk, her children are small, she is the pillar of the family. In the locality, we all know and love her very much, but we can only help a very small part.
