Previously, on August 4, the patient, Ms. TTBP (46 years old, residing in Dien Ban ward, Da Nang city) was hospitalized with prolonged lower abdominal pain, menorrhagia, fatigue and anemia.
Through clinical examination and necessary paraclinical tests, doctors discovered a very large uterine fibroid, occupying almost the entire lower abdomen, with a size equivalent to a large fetus.

Uterine fibroid tumor weighs 3kg (Photo provided by hospital).
Imaging results showed that the tumor was very large, occupying the entire abdomen and compressing nearby organs, with the risk of causing complications if not treated promptly.
The hospital's obstetricians consulted and prescribed a total hysterectomy to remove the tumor; prevent dangerous complications such as compression of neighboring organs in the abdomen, prolonged menstrual bleeding, anemia, tumor necrosis...
The surgery was successful after many hours of effort by the medical team. The entire tumor was separated from the uterus, weighing 3kg.
After surgery, the patient was awake, vital signs were stable and was being monitored and cared for in the postoperative department.
It is expected that patient P. will be discharged in the next few days if his condition continues to improve.
Dr. Vo Thoi, Deputy Director and Head of Obstetrics Department of Quang Nam Regional General Hospital said: "Uterine fibroids are a common disease in middle-aged women, usually benign. However, if not detected and treated promptly, the tumor can grow large, causing serious health effects. Regular check-ups are a key factor in early detection of the disease."
