Saying so is because the entire political system in this district is eager to promote the potential and advantages of many beautiful natural landscapes of the sea, lagoons, mountains, products, etc. Although the tourism economy in Phu My district is not much, what is already there is enough to spread excitement widely.

Promote original, unique qualities

One of Phu My's "bright spots" in turning potential into development advantages is the appearance of Dam Tra O Camping area in Chanh Khoan Dong village, My Loi commune, owned by Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuong.

Mr. Tuong said that Tra O lagoon is the largest freshwater lagoon in Binh Dinh province, with beautiful scenery, closely associated with the lives of people living along the lagoon.

With the encouragement and support of the government, in 2017 I came up with the idea and gradually built a camping area to serve tourists, the first target being those who love to experience and explore . Along with that, I also connected with a number of businesses operating in the tourism sector to bring tourists here.

Tra O Lagoon is a very beautiful destination, that has been confirmed. Here visitors can watch the sunrise and sunset in a magical space, beautiful enough to fascinate people.

Not only can you take a boat on the lagoon, weave through the bushes along the lagoon, through the fields of sedge, lotus ponds, and water lilies in full bloom, visitors can also experience casting nets and catching shrimp and fish like a real villager and enjoy the specialty only available in this lagoon - ebony eels.

From the daily life of making a living on the lagoon, contact with small boats, the lagoon water has formed a bustling boat racing festival every year, during Tet holiday of fishermen in the localities along the lagoon.

The boat racing festival is an opportunity for fishermen to demonstrate their ability to steer and row in the water. The activity is both a sports competition and a cultural and spiritual value, expressing the desire to conquer difficulties to rise up in the lives of fishermen.

From the excitement and growth of boat racing activities on Tra O lagoon of the localities, Phu My district has formed a tournament for the communes to compete with each other every Tet holiday, after the local tournaments have been organized. And this is also a beauty that is gradually being noticed by more tourists.

Good service is obvious, not only that, discovering that tourists have started to come to them, not only the cadres of the communes along the lagoon but also the district leaders often encourage and call on local people to behave well with visitors from afar, especially with restaurants, typically with shrimp noodles and crab noodles.

Ms. Sau, owner of a popular noodle shop in My Chau, said: A bowl of noodles costs only 8,000-10,000 VND, but it is so delicious that people order another bowl.

Ten times like ten, everyone would ask for more, and if the price went up, they would probably accept it. But here, no one does that. We ourselves do it, and moreover, the people in the commune occasionally remind us, we must do something so that they will come back and introduce their friends and relatives to come back to our hometown...

How to get visitors to come back

It turns out that not only the commune and district authorities and businesses are trying to solve the problem of "how to make tourists come back", but after a short period of active campaigning, people in many communes have also realized the great benefits of welcoming many tourists.

The story in the giant squash village of Chanh Trach, My Tho commune is a typical example. The giant squashes weighing up to 40 - 60 kg each, hanging on the trellis, attract the curiosity of many tourists.

From April to June of the lunar calendar every year, the whole village is always full of visitors. Tourists can hold the pumpkins hanging on the trellis to take souvenir photos, then drink the juice extracted from the pumpkin stems; they happily share it with friends and relatives and buy it as gifts.

But what do tourists like most? Ms. Tran Thi Lan, owner of a squash grower in My Tho commune, revealed: Everyone thinks that what they like most is seeing giant squash.

They really liked it, but after asking many times, I and the people here were very surprised that what they liked most was that wherever they went in Chanh Trach, they saw friendly smiles, whatever questions they asked, the people happily answered, if they didn't like one house, they would go to another house and everyone would enthusiastically show them; the village roads were clean, the scenery in the village was cheerful... making everyone feel comfortable.

Not only in Tra O, Chanh Trach, such positive signs can also be mentioned in many other destinations such as: Mui Vi Rong, Hon Nuoc lighthouse, Hon Dun, Hon Tranh, Bai Bang, Tan Phung fishing village, My An cape, Ho Da Ban, Thien Sanh pagoda, Da Trai lake, Suoi So lake...

When visiting Phu My, tourists can also visit craft villages such as: My Thang sedge mat village, Phu My town pottery village, My Loi coconut fiber mat village, My Tai bamboo weaving village;... And especially the fishing festivals that last from February to June of the lunar calendar every year with many unique features of the fishing community of the coastal village...

In fact, people all over the country are probably the same, but from bright spots like Chanh Trach, we cannot help but believe that it is due to the great efforts of the government, associations, and unions, like the way the civil servants and public employees of My Tho commune have done.

A leader of Phu My district (who requested not to be named) confided: In terms of advantages, uniqueness, and technical infrastructure conditions, Phu My is hard to compare with An Nhon, Tuy Phuoc, Hoai Nhon, and Tay Son. However, if we consider the sincerity, friendly attitude of the people, and the beautiful and prosperous villages, Phu My people can absolutely compete.

We often encourage people like that. Whatever good thing we do, no matter how small, we must immediately keep it and promote it. Tra O attracts visitors because of its beautiful scenery, but tourists also return to Tra O because of the lovely and lovable shrimp and crab noodle sellers!

“How to make people rich from tourism is my business”

Phu My does not have many large groups of tourists yet, but medium-sized groups and spontaneous tourist groups are increasing in number.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuong shared, I continue to invest in Capmping Dam Tra O to serve tourists better; the number of tourists knowing and coming here is increasing and what makes me very happy is that I always receive support from the government.

Mr. Dang Kim Tuyen, an officer in charge of Sports and Physical Training at the Phu My District Culture, Sports and Tourism Center (Binh Dinh Province) said: I have been in charge of the district's sports sector for nearly 40 years. The district boat race held on Tra O lagoon has now become a special tournament, attracting tens of thousands of spectators from all over the country to look forward to every time Tet comes and spring comes. This event can be fully promoted for tourism. And we are all willing to do everything to increase the attraction of the race.

The support of the government and associations and organizations creates unexpected motivation and effectiveness. Mr. Vo Tanh, a resident of Chanh Trach 2, My Tho commune, said, from the suggestion of the commune, we not only maintain services for tourists visiting the squash village, but also boldly introduce them to experience the reality in the melon and watermelon gardens, and agricultural products grown in an organic, environmentally friendly direction. Up to now, every tourist group likes to experience clean agricultural products.

Taking me to visit all the places in the commune that he thinks have the potential to become tourist destinations, Mr. Truong Ngoc Hoang, Secretary of the Party Committee of My Tho commune, confided: Currently, people as well as businesses operating in the tourism sector in My Tho are only on a small, simple scale.

We are encouraging people to connect with potential investors to develop local tourism; to be proactive and creative in processing products from local agricultural products, including squash (squash juice, squash tea) and OCOP products such as 3-month sticky rice, My Tho wine, etc. to both develop tourism and preserve and promote craft villages. We think and consider how to make people rich from tourism as our business.

Sharing the same sentiment as Mr. Truong Ngoc Hoang, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dac, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Phu My district (Binh Dinh province) shared: We have increased communication to raise people's awareness; when tourism develops, everyone benefits, those directly involved benefit early, those who live further away benefit later. So far, we can see that people have responded very well.

Along with that, we seek to better promote activities such as fishing festivals, folk song performances, boat racing festivals, etc. These contents will certainly serve tourism well.
