Nguyen Gia Quan scored his second HIO at Royal Long An Stadium

TPO - Golfer Nguyen Gia Quan made his mark in round 2 of the Royal's Cup 2025 with an impressive HIO at hole 7C par-3 at Royal Long An Golf & Country Club.

Tran The Bao took the lead after round 2 of Royal's Cup 2025.

On June 4, the second round of the Royal's Cup 2025 took place in favorable weather conditions at Royal Long An Golf & Country Club. The highlight of the day was the impressive breakthrough of Tran The Bao - a young amateur athlete from Vung Tau - when he rose to the top of the rankings with a total score of -3 after two rounds.

Tran The Bao scored 7 birdies, had 2 bogeys and 1 double bogey, standing out with two consecutive birdie streaks at holes 5-6 and 17-18. The result (-3) in this round helped him convincingly rise from 2nd place to 1st place.

Besides Tran The Bao (-3), the round witnessed more athletes with negative scores, with Le Huu Giang (-1), Truong Chi Quan (-1) and Joel Troy (-3).

2023 National Golf Champion Nguyen Nhat Long, who led after round 1, temporarily ranked 2nd with a total score of (-1) after hitting even par in round 2. He scored 5 birdies and had 5 bogeys.

Right behind are Yang Jung Soo (+1), Le Huu Giang (+3) and the group of three athletes who all achieved (+4): Park Jung Min, Truong Chi Quan and Joel Troy.

A memorable moment of the day was golfer Nguyen Gia Quan’s hole-in-one at hole 7C. He used a 6-iron from 174 yards in a right-to-left wind to score a perfect score.

This is the second time Nguyen Gia Quan has made HIO at Royal Long An course, after the first time at hole 5B in January 2024 - meaningful milestones in his career.

After 2 rounds, the organizing committee has determined 50 athletes who passed the cut (+23) to enter the final round. Among them are 5 amateur athletes: Luu Dao Huy Nam, Tran The Bao, Nguyen Dang Minh, Ngo Vinh Tuong and Doan Uy. According to the regulations, amateur golfers who pass the cut at the tournament will have their entry fee refunded.

The final round, which is also the last round, will take place tomorrow (June 5). With the narrow gap in points between the leading positions, the race to the 2025 Royal's Cup championship promises to be very attractive and unpredictable.
