Vietnam's economy is resilient enough to withstand external "shocks"

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that over the past 5 years, Vietnam's economy has proven its resilience to external "shocks", maintaining a growth rate among the highest in the world . In a very difficult context, GDP in 2025 is expected to increase by over 8%; the average increase in the 2021 - 2025 period is 6.3%.

In addition to the basic achievements, the Vietnamese economy still has shortcomings and challenges. In particular, in the foreign direct investment (FDI) sector, the investment quality, technology level and technology transfer in some projects are still limited; the localization rate is still low...

Regarding the key tasks and solutions in the coming time, the Prime Minister stated that Vietnam will continue to maintain political stability and social order and safety. In addition, it will promote three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, human resources and infrastructure; restructure the economy, and innovate the growth model based on science, technology and innovation.

In the context of many countries having high public debt ratios, Vietnam will continue to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, ensure major balances of the economy; promote connections between Vietnam's economy and countries in the region and the world; between Vietnamese enterprises and FDI enterprises and enterprises in the world; connect production chains, supply chains, and global value chains.

For the business community and FDI investors, the head of the Government proposed expanding investment, transferring technology, connecting with Vietnamese enterprises, participating in institution building, modernizing smart governance with the spirit of "A creative state, pioneering enterprises, public-private partnership, a rich and strong country, happy people, and benefiting entrepreneurs"...

Building a comprehensive and modern diplomacy

Earlier, the same morning in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and spoke at the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2025-2030 period.

The Prime Minister affirmed that for the diplomatic sector, the patriotic emulation movement has special significance, always associated with Uncle Ho's teachings: "Emulation is an international spirit"; "Emulation is contributing to preserving world peace and democracy".

In the upcoming development period, Vietnam has great opportunities and chances to accelerate and make breakthroughs, but also faces many new difficulties and challenges. Basically agreeing with the direction and tasks for the coming time determined at the congress, the Prime Minister noted some additional key contents.

That is to continue to promote the pioneering role, strongly innovate thinking and methods of implementing foreign affairs in all fields; build a comprehensive, modern diplomacy, imbued with the Vietnamese diplomatic identity - steadfast in principles, flexible in strategies, humane and benevolent in behavior, steadfast in national interests, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law; have a mechanism to mobilize domestic and foreign resources, of organizations and individuals to serve the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
